Crowds and discounts before Thanksgiving

We are thinking of going down Thankgiving week and going to the parks like the Sunday-Wed or Tues before Thanksgiving. Are the crowds really bad then - or just over Thanksgiving weekend?

Also - does Disney offer discount stays during that time? We just got an offer in the mail yesterday that expires the end of Sept. I didn't know if anyone has ever gotten good deals around that time. Thanks!

Historically, crowds were supposedly light the week before Thanksgiving until the day before.

In 2002 my family and I arrived on Saturday or Sunday before Thanksgiving and the crowds were terrible -- really bad. There was one and perhaps two cruise ships that did not sail due to viruses, and this may have contributed to the problem.

We stayed at the Poly, and the resort was a great family experience. But the parks weren't much fun, although we had a good time.

We aren't early risers, but on the last day (Thanksgiving) my then-3 son and I were there for early entry and managed to ride quite a few attractions. By 10 a.m. the park was packed and we left.

So hope for the best but be prepared for the worst!

We had the same idea last year, we went up on Mon and left on Wed....the crowds are terrible and just got worse as the week went on. I would try the week before or after if you could. We won't do it again :(
