There is a tendency to make a long weekend of the holiday
no...there is no "tendency" to make it a long weekend....it IS a long weekend......thanksgiving weekend is THE most highly traveled weekend of the entire year in the US....
and by the way, thanksgiving day is the best holiday of the year...
but that's for another thread....
yes, turkey day weekend will be crowded....and traveling that weekend is somewhat masochistic....
but once the weekend is over, it will be heavenly in WDW....the best time of the year to be there....the smallest crowds, plus xmas decorations....
be prepared for both warm and cold weather...you can have either, or both....(one year we had 80 degree weather....another year 40 degree weather and it dropped into the 30's at night).....it's more likely to be warmer than colder but be prepared....we've had to dress in parkas, mittens and hats some years...of course you can always buy clothes there...that's what we always do...
by the way, americans, who are generally friendly in any case, tend to be exceptionally friendly during holiday periods (like thanksgiving weekend).....
i wish we were going home for thanksgiving......we've only managed it a few times since re-locating overseas.....we most miss home on thanksgiving day.....the parades......the same movies year in and year out....and of course dinner to die for with all the family there....and my sister's turkey, stuffing and apple pie....yummmmmm.....
