I am sure NYE and New Years Day are super crowded ... any idea how the rest of the week plays out? I wonder if lots of people leave on NYD or stay through the whole week. Just curious how the parks will be. Thanks in advance!

Trust me ... they stay. We were there this past first week of January and it was VERY crowded in all the parks. I believe because New Years Day fell on a Sunday and many schools didn't return from Christmas break until the second week of January (like ours). Next year New Years Day falls on a Monday, so I expect more of the same. TGM also has the first few days of January listed as very crowded.

I agree with the second poster. We were there from Jan1-7th and crowds were very heavy until Thursday.

Even park employees said is was much busier than they anticipated. We hopped from Epcot back to MK after the first Fastpass for Soarin was 7 HOURS AWAY! We got the fastpass, went to MK for the day and returned to Epcot in Evening , used fastpass stayed the rest of the night.

We went this year the second week of January. We arrived the Monday after the Marathon - it was perfect.

We have plans to go back in January 2007 at the same time. I really think the week of January 1st will be very busy. Some children don't go back to school until January 8th.

We went this past January and arrived Marathon weekend (Saturday). That Sunday we went to Epcot, which was pretty crowded due to the Marathon and Monday at MK I thought was crowded. It seemed the crowds thinned after that because the rest of the week was OK.

We were there the 1st through the 8th, and I thought that it was crowded through Thursday. Friday it was a lot less crowded, and Saturday Epcot had a lot of people because of the marathon. We are going after MLK day this year.

I was also there the first week of January. I thought MK was pretty crowded, but I still was able to do all the attractions in one day. I did not think that the other parks were all that bad.

Was there that week last year and will be again this year. Thought MK was a typical summer day crowd but cooler ;)

1) Many schools are out through January 7th us included
2) Last year Marathon/Half were split onto two different days opening up registration to thousands more runners (who many bring their families).
3) This year the 5k is on a third day since it has gotten so popular.

Expect crowds through the 7th and then it should be great !!!

I was NOT there Janaury 2006, but usually hubby and I go something around the 3-10 and there are very low crowds. One bus driver (take it for what it is worth) said the two weeks in Janaury AFTER the holidays are the slowest of the year.

we were there dec 31-jan 4 and jan 2-4 didn't seem too bad. we're going back the same time this year, the parks were simi crowded. we planned well that we rode everything we wanted to without any terribly long waits.

Great info - that is what I was afraid of! We will wait and go the week of the 6th tne - (my bday anyway :) ) thanks for the expert advice!

We went the first week in January 2005, it was more crowded than we expected it to be. We're going to try Jan 12-20 2007, hopefully it will be a little less crowded.

We were there last year because our DD is a college cheerleader and her comp was Jan 13-16. It was pretty crowded. There was also a convention of some sort and the BC was booked(the cm in BC market told me) and MK on MLK day was pretty crowded. We tried to get into liberty tree tavern for lunch and they could not fit us in. This year our DD competition will be there Jan 12-15. So we are going Jan 12-21. I expect crowds during MLK weekend but hopefully they will lighten after that. :cheer2: :cheer2:

I was there Jan. 7-10 celebrating my birthday, and it was GREAT! Not too crowded and beautiful weather. :)
