Crowds 1st week of January

Just wondering what the crowds are like the first full week after New year's Day? This would be for 2021, not next year. So I guess it would be Sunday Jan 3 to Jan 10, '21. We have our trips planned this and next year. We have a elementary student so not a huge deal if he misses school and a college student so thought this may be a good time to go as he won't go back to school until 2nd full week of year. Summers are out, too expensive and hot and really didn't want to do Spring break weeks.

With attractions opening, etc it may be hard to judge for 2021 this far out but we went this year Jan 3-6 and crowds were still quite heavy up until our last day where I would have called them “moderate heavy.” To sum it up it felt very crowded BUT that said we had great luck with fastpasses and with pre planning had a fantastic time.

I was there for the first full week of January in 2015 and had a great trip. Crowds were moderate. The weather was quite chilly (close to freezing at night) which may have kept the crowds down a bit, but I'd take light jacket weather over hot and humid any day. (and as a Canadian, it was still very nice for January!) Of course, a lot has changed in the past 4-5 years, but I thought it was a great time to go.

We were there after New Year's one year - arrived maybe the 4th, for a week? To begin with it was really crowded, but as the days went on the crowds were less and less. It was chilly, but I agree with you re no summer or spring break.

Depends on when the school kids go back. This year many don’t go back until the 6th but it looks like 2021 more kids will go back sooner due to Christmas being a Friday.

My only experience during this time was around the 3rd-7th of January back in the early 2000s. I thought it was going to be slower due to Christmas & New Years being over. However, I was wrong. Very wrong. Granted that's been a while, but as we all know the parks aren't getting less crowded these days.

This was probably the busiest time I've been to the parks. I've never been during an actual Holiday, and this experience didn't really make me want to change that anytime soon.

I would say it should be ok. Most kids will likely go back to school starting the 4th. The last couple of years the first week of Jan was really busy because of the way the holidays fell but in 2021 looks to be back to "normal".

Still very crowded in my experience. Have found it less so after the 10th of Jan in the past.

The 1st is a Friday, I would expect that next week to still be very busy. Consider the next week if possible.

I believe the end of those dates would coincide with the Disney World Marathon weekend. It's not a huge increase in park attendance, but especially on Saturday and Sunday there will be roads blocked and runners on the course through the park, which can cause some congestion.

We were there the same week this past January. Same reasons.... one in high school the other on college break. I found it to be about the same crowds that we've experienced in the summer but without the heat so standing in line to me is more tolerable. It was actually quite chilly in the evenings. We would definitely do it again. I am not sure that I have experienced low crowds in at least the last 5 years no matter when I've been which is a variety of months in all seasons.
