Crowded this week

We have been here since Saturday and have noticed the crowds are bigger than they were last year. Someone said that New York schools are out this week. Is this true? If so, do they have the first week of May off every year? I'm already planning for next year and will go the second week of May instead.

I am about an hour north of Manhattan, and I teach- I do not know of ANY district anywhere nearby that is off... Maybe I am missing something! Good luck with those crowds!

OOps inlaws leave tomorrow for their first WDW trip - crowds are not their thing...It will be interesting to hear what they thought of the world!

Don't get me wrong, the crowds aren't THAT bad (not like spring break), we are just use to less crowds in May. We have seen a lot of NY Yankees fans and FDNY shirts. I guess the New York Vacation Week was just an urban legend.

I was there last Thursday to Monday and was surprised at the crowds Thursday to Saturday. I think there were some factors. We went to MK on Thursday and it was very crowded. I think part of the problem that day was that Grad Night was Friday & Saturday with an early closing, so more people went Thursday, it was open until 11:00 with Spectro & Wishes. Epcot was crowded on Friday with school groups. Saturday at AK was really bad, I think the locals were coming out for EE. Sunday at MK wasn't bad, Monday we went back to AK for early entry, it wasn't bad. Then we went to MGM, not too bad.

I teach in upstate NY and I don't know of any schools that are off this week, either. Would be nice tho!!
