Crowded in September?

I just picked up a copy of The Unofficial Guide to Disney World 2005, and they had a new section with crowd projections for 2005. They are claiming that Sptember 22-28 the crowd intensity is going to be an 8 out of 10, while the rest of the month is around a 2 out of 10. Does anyone know of anything that is going on the last week of September that would cause these projections??? I have looked at all the events calendars and could find nothing going on this week to justify these projections. I have already taken off of work this week and am considering changing my dates if it is going to be this crowded. Please help!! :confused3

UPDATE: I just received an email from Len Testa at the Unofficial Guide who states this is probably just a typo. He said not to change any vacation plans. Now I can stop having a heart attack. Thanks for all the helpful posts, I really appreciate it. :earsgirl:

September is usually light. This year from the 23d to 25th is the first Disney USA Triatholon. I am guessing that is what the crowd size estimate is based on. However, I doubt it will be so as the January marathos has never made the crowd get that big.

We always go in September because of the crowds being very light. We have been at all different times in September and they are all great times. The only thing to be nervous about in September is the hurricanes. We were chased home last year because of hurricane Jeanne and another year we had to flee the Tampa area and go to Orlando early because of a hurricane.

This doesn't stop us though. We are returning again this September and we are hoping there were enough hurricanes in 2004 that there won't be any in 2005.

I'm with you on the hurricane theory. We dodged Frances and Ivan last September. Had to postpone due to Frances and went on with Ivan lurking in the midst but the weather was beautiful and we're heading there again this September.

Hey Slo I'm in Merrillville! I can't decide if my husband and I should go in September or August. Do you plan to fly? I don't know who to use now that ATA is no longer at Midway. :confused3

I hope its not busy. I always go this time a year and crowds are really light. I was there during Jeanne. She didn't scare us away and good thing we stayed as it missed Orlando.

We were also forced to postpone our trip due to Frances, but we have gone that same week in Sept for the last 8 years, and we love it. Hopefully going again this Sept, but also considering October....having trouble deciding since we have never been at the end of Oct/first of Nov.

Go in October! DH and I are trying that out for the first time this year! We are looking forward to the F&W AND MNSSHP!

Even though it is just the two of us, we are all kids at heart, so we know how to have a good time. I am looking forward to seeing hte themeing and also all the "evil" characters :)

Would have been nice if UG had indicated upon what they were basing that "8 out of 10" projection. That's pretty crowded--especially by September standards. I seriously doubt just a Triathelon would up the crowds that much.

Mid to late September are some of the least crowded visits I've had to the park. I've been during this month 3 times in the last 10 years. Most recently was the last week in Sept 2002 and we walked on everything.

I looked on touringplans.com--the UOG update site--and the last week of Sept are rated as 2's.

I think I have this same book, but didn't see these dates as that busy... I got all 2's out of 10's. I lent out my book, so can't refer to it at the moment... anyone else confirm?? Crossing my fingers that hil619 is mistaken (please please please).

Labor day weekend is the only busy times I am showing in Sept.....thats Touringplan

Ok, now you've got me all worried. We are doing a cruise 9/18-9/22, then heading over to the poly 9/22-9/24. We plan to play at the poly 9/22 then MK on 9/23 WHICH IS SMACK DAB ON THIS ALLEGED 8 DAY! UGH!!! We've never been to MK, and plan a longer trip later, but we planned a short supposed less crowded time to go and now I find this out! Should we change our poly days to pre-cruise; i.e. 9/15-9/17? We haven't booked air yet so could change.

I personally wouldnt go changing my plans because of this post!
I would ck into it!
the ug online does not say anything like this at all, and they are more up to date than the latest versions in the store!
ck out the best days to tour here...

maybe len will post here and clear up this craziness for us!

Hi i will be at WDW in sept reading your thread has made me worried.can you please come back on the thread to confirm your findings.is their anyway you can giveme more information[maybe scan the page on to this board ] as all the plans i have looked at have sept as 2 .

Before booking my trip 2 months ago, I looked over the touring plans and saw these days should be 2's as well. We booked for Sept. 24th thru the 30th. So here's also hoping for lower crowds, only reason I booked those dates.

I can deal with either crowds or heat, but not both. Hope I didn't make a mistake, but if it's crowed oh well. I'll be at Disney!!

Just a quickie update... i emailed lentesta... he got back to me saying he thinks that was probly a typo... he is going to ck into it for us and let us know!
But that was my assumption as well... cant imagine september having 8's!!!!
Lets keep our fingers crossed!
I will post as soon as I hear from him!

Were any of you flying that went last year during the hurricanes and had some form of delay? That's around the time we're going this year. Just wondering how it affected your airline tickets & schedule and even hotel ressies.
