Are you really able to have manageable times for rides and also get a chance to get pictures/ try the unique food? I didn’t know if we were trying to cram too much into the party time.

It’s hit and miss. Picture lines are generally long, no matter what the crowd levels. You need a plan. You’ve got to prioritize what’s important to you. The night goes by quickly.

I agree. I don't think you can do it all. Based on past years, I think you have to either focus on riding all of the rides with low/no wait, or you focus on the photo ops and special events. Or just pick a little bit of both and prioritize the ones that are important to you. But are you going to be able to ride every single ride and get all the photos and see all of the events/shows? No, most likely not.

Thank you for the answers! As it gets closer is there ever a list published of the different characters?

We were there 2 years before teh Co-Vid shutdown. we went mid October both times. The parks were jammed! 45 minute waits for rides and 45 + minutes for character M&G's. Both stage shows were packed, the midnight one was better. Parades and fireworks, packed.
Compared to 10 years ago, we never had crowds like that. Will it be that crowded this year? Hard to tell, but I would guess , it will.
Reports from last year (we didn't attend), many nights were packed, some weren't.

It depends when you go. I have gone every year since 2015 (minus Covid) on a Tuesday in late September. Lots of people there for the party but the lines were always low waits or walk ons, except for PP and SDMT. It really depends on your date.

I've never done the HP, so I'm curious about this myself. I'm going early September, post Labor Day though. My priority is the special things, (i.e. photos, maybe a treat or two, fireworks, parade, Cadaver Dans). If I do any rides its probably just the Haunted Mansion, for obvious reasons. Would that be something I can accomplish? I should also say, I'm not a Nightmare Before Christmas Fan (yeah I know, I'm not in the majority there) so waiting for those characters which I heard is really long won't be my thing. I also don't intend to do the castle show.

My last party was Oct 2019. The Pooh characters in their Halloween costumes started early, i have some photos time stamped 6:30. Treat lines don't take long, I think the Cadaver Dans performed several times. You should be able to do everything you mentioned easily. The general atmosphere is fun, the ghosts chatting on the HM grounds were cool.

I went last year Halloween night (!!) the ride lines were 10-20 minutes for most (7DMT was 50 as was Peter Pan) - the character/photo lines were LONG - well over an hour.

We go in August typically (going again this year) and in our experience you basically have to prioritize what's important to you because you can't do it all. Rides, trick or treating, character meets, shows, parade, etc. We like to trick or treat as it's sort of novel and so we generally pass on the shows and catch the late Boo to You parade. Ride lines can be long at time (30 mins plus) so some flexibility in how you want to spend your time is always helpful.

Last year was a little different because it was an after hours event which had more limited attendance than the MNSSHP, that's why the tickets for it are less expensive than Boo Bash tickets were. There's a lot more going on with MNSSHP, but a lot more people. I believe Halloween night just sold out a few days ago. Boo Bash for Halloween sold out within a few days of being released, if not sooner. Earlier parties are less crowded, but it is still fairly busy. It is a great time!

I've gone twice, and crowds were (IMO) very heavy both times. Even if you aren't by nature a planner, be a planner to maximize the party. For example, know which characters come out before the party officially starts. Some characters switch in and out. Do the later shows and parades if you can, as it does thin out slightly the last hour.

Yeah we have done both MNSSHP and MVMCP multiple times in the past and this is always the case. It seems to be all about those rare characters to a large number of attendees. We aren't spending a 1/4 to a 1/3 of the party in one line though :). We try to walk as close as we can and view the characters without actually meeting them. Its all about rides, treats, and shows for us.

It is slamed the first two hours and then people start leaving (families) . The last hour is VERY nice.
