Crowd pics

We were there in Feb. for Presidents week and the FP lines were crazy long. They set up ropes outside of Big Thunder because the FP return line stretched back past Splash mountain. The FP line for SM stretched back toAstro Orbiter. I don't know why. I wondered if maybe they weren't staggering the return times enough. The lines did move, but it still seemed crazy to have FP return lines that long. I know it was a busy week, but I would think it gets a lot busier than President's week.

Thanks!

Do those ridiculous FP+ lines go fast??

I can't imagine those lines in the heat of summer. :faint:

On the DL board when people ask about doing WDW in the summer, someone always says "but at least most of the lines are indoors." Hmmmm...... :scratchin

Really hoping this gets straightened out before the end of the year.
Christmas crowds and New Years crowds and glitches....oh my.

Thanks!

It just depends. Inevitably there are people in the FP+ return line who think (not so foolishly) that the line is for standby. Then they have to be told no, and pointed to where standby is. And in many cases they don't even know what FP+ is and the CM tries to quickly explain it to them and point them to a kiosk. Other people are held up at the Mickey's because their MB won't scan or their FP+ reservation isn't showing up. Some people came at the wrong time and want to stand off to the side for 5 minutes. Etc, etc, etc. The line for POTC I posted pics of was not moving and I could see the CMs stressing out and seeming to not know what to do to fix it.

But I have seen the Buzz Lightyear line spill out and down to Laugh Floor and then turn around and see that all the people got worked in and the line went down surprisingly quick.

Little Mermaid ride is bad for gridlock right at the first Mickey check point (mostly from standby people thinking that's where they go to wait) but I blame that on that whole area being massively confusing. I mean you have the ride standby entrance, then the ride's FP+ return line, then the Ariel meet and greet standby line and then the meet Ariel FP+ return line all in a row and pretty close to each other. It can be confusing and cause a lot of chaos in a small space that also has to double as a walk way through New Fantasyland.

OMG!

So, we're going in June during all 9s (per easywdw).

If I go 30 minutes before rope drop, how long until the crowds are bad? 2 hours? I was thinking of doing SB for that first hour or two, then early lunch, then FP+ (we then leave and do pool/movie at resort - we never shlep back to a park in the evening).

Or at level 9 is it only about an hour before the SB lines for headliners is, say, over 15 minutes? I just want to manage expectations. We're going for long enough, and have another trip planned, that we don't need to fit alot in.

We were there during limited testing in Sept. and we constantly saw the longest fastpass return times we have ever seen at Disney. Even most standby lines were a good amount longer than what we usually encounter during our Sept. trips. It was nothing like that POC or Haunted Mansion pic, as this was Sept. and it was only a handful of resorts testing the fastpass +, but POC, B.T.M. & Splash, I recall all had lines out of the que for the fastpass return, which we have NEVER encountered before going in Sept. I think the fastpass + system and process is just simply flawed.

Imagine being a small kid being drug through those crowds. The only thing you remember about Disney is staring at other people's butts. :crazy2:

LOL, I was thinking that same thing! Maneuvering a kid through that crowd. However, there is a certain excitement with crowd energy...as long as it isn't 100 degrees!

This may be hard to ascertain. I would get there at least 30 minutes before RD. I think June will be nutty. Although, last June, I think for a whole week it rained like crazy (my sister was there then) I don't know if they will have morning EMH on the day you are planning...that will figure into it, too. But you should have a solid hour before all heck breaks loose. I think 2 hours may be pushing it? However, with the current status of FP+ and working out the wrinkles, its a crap shoot.:confused3

We've never witnessed anything like those pictures, going mostly in the fall. I'm very excited about our upcoming trip and am trying to stay in a positive frame of mind, but when I read the stories and see the proof, well, it's just hard to not start to worry just a little.

We will be there May 2-10, I know spring breaks should have died down some, still I have a feeling this is going to be a test of patience. It's the first trip in more than 18 years for my oldest DS and the first ever trip for my dgs, they are so excited. I know DH and my teenage son will take a look at those lines and be ready to head back to the pool.

This is the first trip I've ever had so much anxiety over :scared:

I posted these the other night in another thread, but here you go. These are from this past Tuesday afternoon (around 4:15)

The standby time for POTC was posted as 75 minutes. The pics below are of the FP+ RETURN LINE. (I had a FP+ for this time and bailed instead of waiting in this mess.) Yes, it spilled out that far into Adventureland and was a complete and utter mob scene.

Oh wow so fastpass + return lines are a long wait ? Now I'm worried about our upcoming trip .

Oh wow doesnt sound good. If all the 4 lines are all near each other which line is for LM fastpass+ ? Do they not have signs ?

You are going for a nice amount of days and at a good time. It is insanity now because of the myriad of spring breakers...That should die down after Easter. You should be good...I think. ;)
