What are the crowd levels like in early May. My husband and I are going on an adult's only trip (we are leaving our kids home with grandma) and I am wondering what to expect as far as crowds go. We are going from May 6th to May 10th. Will it be busy because of Mother's day? We have been to WDW in late January early February, April during spring break, late September and early December. The only time I would never go again would be during Spring break.

We will be there on a trip w/o our children, too. Your crowds will range from 4-6. In other words, no crowds... :thumbsup2

We were there the first/second week of May last year and it was great! In fact, we're going again first week of May this year.

Slightly off topic, but "Disney Bama Fan" I noticed you are in NJ. Although we are sworn enemies (War Eagle!), I dare say that it's nice to come across a Bama fan in this neck of the woods!

There are a number of Bama and Auburn fans on the Dis. My sister went to Auburn, and I don't have the typical animosity toward the program.

Welcome aboard! :welcome:

We were there last year for the first week of May (thank you Swine Flu paranoia school closing!). It was awesome! My sister and I took my neice (5) and nephew (2).

For the most part the weather was perfect - I can only recall one day where we ate Mickey bars super fast in Frontier Land because they were melting. The rest of the days were pleasant and cool.

The crowds were mild too. We mostly walked on to Small World (ik ik - not a big attraction), but I only waited about 20 minutes for PotC or Haunted Mansion. I think Peter Pan was at most around 40-50 minutes at its highest point. The longest thing we waited for was Dumbo, and that was only about 30 minutes.

We were focused on calmly enjoying WDW with the kids, so if something had a long line, we tried something else. I don't recall seeing huge lines or FP's running out early in the day. Sounds like if it's you and your hubby only, you'll be able to enjoy a peaceful trip like we did.

Oh yeah, it was the Flower and Garden Festival at EPCOT. We didn't realize that until we got there. (Yes, we got in the car and just went - didn't even look ahead to see if any special events were going on!) It was gorgeous, and even there the crowds were not noticably large. Enjoy your trip! :goodvibes

Thanks for the welcome! I've been a lurker for many years. I've noticed the Bama/Auburn fans in the Dis, but I don't think I've seen one from NJ! We've been in SJ for about 10 years now and I don't think I've seen one Bama fan (based on clothing or bumper stickers). We know quite a few Auburn fans/alumni through our local club, though!

We were in the parks May 4-12 last year and it couldn't have been more perfect, crowd wise. With the exception of TSM, we didn't wait for more than about 15-20 minutes for anything that we didn't FP. There was some major heat somedays (record setting, if I recall) but I'll take it over rain any day! :) If Easter wasn't so late next year, we definitely would have done early May again.

Hubby and I just agreed to a May 14-21 trip... we haven't been in May for a few years now. The weather has always been great! Enjoy!!!

Encourage us athletes on during the Half Ironman event at Fort Wilderness 5-16-10. Swim in Bay lake off Fort Wilderness Beach at 6:20am 1.2 miles. Bike 56 miles leaving property via Epcot and AK roads. Run 13.1 miles on the canal roads of FW. Fourth year for me! Staying at WL. See you then

DH and I are also taking a child free trip May 4-12. We have never gone at this time before so we are hoping for great weather for golf and low crowd levels. We don't think we will spend a lot of time in the parks except Epcot. I think this will be a relaxing WDW vacation this time.

Actually, I heard from a very well-placed source that they're expecting unusually large crowds the first part of May this year. Record-setting, mammoth crowds and tour groups, especially from May 4 to May 12, when long range forecasts are also calling for intense heat and humidity, plus a lot of bugs, widespread pestilence, Jonas Brothers music and so on.

But it should be improving around noon on the 12th so you may want to plan accordingly.
:confused3

Whoo Hooo!!:cool1: Here's another Auburn fan going to the World the first week of May.

WAR EAGLE!!!!!!!!!!!!

War Eagle! Here's hoping we have light crowds and great weather!

One interesting note about last year -- we were worried about crowd level because most of the restaurants were booked. But when we were there, the crowds were fairly light and the restaurants had plenty of open tables. I found that we had some difficulty getting all the ressies we wanted this time around too, but we're hoping that the crowds are still moderate.

I also agree about the weather the first week of May last year -- seemed hotter than I ever remember. (AK was scorching!) Guess that it better than lots of rain though so I shouldn't complain!

Nice try. :lmao:

I'll be there May 9-15th!

I was on my honeymoon (Married May 3, 2001) the first part of May and recall low crowds and short lines and pleasant weather (we are from TX and we know hot). Now TSM,Soarin' nor Everest were not there yet so expect those rides to be a mad house but the rest of it shouldn't be too bad. the only down side is the parks close relatively early (7-9pm for the most part) so only a few nights a week for nighttime fireworks/parades and the water parks close at 5.

We LOVE traveling to WDW in early May!! Last year we had our yearly trip planned and a few weeks before we left they bumped up crowd level predictions to 9 and 10's for the first week. I was sweating bullets. I was so worried it was going to be packed and we would not have as good of a time as we have had in the past.

However, the crowds were actually no different than years past in May. Fairly low crowd levels and great weather (we missed the week of rain, thank goodness!). I checked the crowd levels again, the day we got there and they had bumped them back down to 5's. I worried for nothing. :)

Hope you experience low crowd levels and great weather too!

we love to go early May...we go for our wedding anniversary (May 2)the crowds and weather are great! its one of our fav times to visit!! ENJOY!!!
