We just returned from a great trip to the world. We have been going in October for the last 4 years and by far the crowds were at an all time high! October was once a slower time --but not anymore!

My guess would be because a lot of colleges are on semesters and get a short fall break and then a spring break in March. My daughter was off this past Thursday and Friday, as were many of her other friends from other schools. I'm just guessing. :rolleyes1

I am definitely going to agree with you....We always go this time of year and I couldn't believe how Crowded it was!!! I guess all these years of us DIS'ers proclaiming October as being the best time to visit finally caught up with us. I'm keeping my mouth shut from now on!!!
BTW, our last Saturday there at MK, the 7th, was more crowded than any trip I can remember. If it weren't for the Dream Fast Passes we got that day, we would have left and hopped over to another park.
I hope this is just a fluke....Let's see how the rest of the month pans out. Keep us posted, Fellow DIS'ers, who will be traveling shortly!

We hopped over to MK on Oct 8 after Fantasmic and could not believe how heavy the crowds were. On the Sunday before, Oct. 1, we walked on almost everything after the parade. I guess it was so busy due to the holiday weekend. We also went for a few hours on Tues, Oct. 10 and crowds were pretty low then. :thumbsup2

I returned today from 4 days at WDW. I was at the MK yesterday (Saturday)...and the FASTPASS line for Buzz Lightyear was longer than the standby line - although it moved pretty quickly! Yep...it was definitely crowded Columbus Day week.

How long did you guys wait in lines for the headliners?

I think the key thing to remember here is that any week, no matter what the month, that is before or after a holiday weekend is going to be crowded.

Every week is gonna be crowded now. I tried to book a passholder room next week and all they had was a CS deluxe suite and some presidential suite I could never afford. I had better selection last year on christmas.

Eh, not really, or at least not in the weekday mornings at EPCOT. Mission: Space queues have only been about 10-30 minute waits during that time.

It was kind of crowded (for October) at MK on Saturday the 7th, but we were able to hit everything we wanted since they were open until midnight. We stayed from 9:30am to 11:15pm, judiciously using FP and a break on Tom Sawyer Island (possibly why we had a meltdown-free day), and never waited for anything more than 15 min (POTC at 10:45pm or so). The only things we didn't do were SpaceM, Dumbo, Stitch, Prezs, and Bears, and we did Buzz twice and TTA twice (once day, once night) and Goofy's Barnstormer 5 times.
Buzz FP goodness-- 2-3 minutes.

I think a large part of the crowd was foreign tour groups. Are tour operators in foreign countries pushing October now as the time to go? It's been our favorite ttg, but we may switch to January if the crowds keep increasing.

DMGM wasn't very crowded on Sunday the 8th, except for RRR and the Lights/Cars show as usual. Everything else we did was nigh walk-on or FP walk-on. TowerT FP goodness -- 0 minutes wait.

Epcot wasn't as empty as previous Octobers, but wasn't "crowded" on Tuesday the 10th. More foreign tour groups, but not as many evident as at MK. I just hate to be behind a crowd of 40 people following a flag-bearer and have them go into the Electric Umbrella, when that is where we were (were) headed to eat, arrrgggh. The usual crowds milled around Soarin', TestT, and TurtleT, but FP nailed the first two with minimum wait (5-10min) and wise choice of when to go nailed TurtleT for us with 5-10min wait. We skipped the Living with the Land since its FP was off. Soarin' FP goodness-- 5-10 minutes.

AK on Wednesday the 11th was about as crowded as last year, and packed around EE, but was awesomely empty for late extra magic hours (5pm-8pm), with lots of walk-ons (this is the time you see the soaking wet kids who have just ridden Kali River Rapids 5 times straight :woohoo: ). Well, except for EE, which was packed, of course. Longest wait of the day was 5-10 minutes in Safari FP line a little after 10am. EE FP goodness-- 2 minutes.
