Crowd levels at Christmastime?

How crowded is the week between Christmas and NYs? Is it crazy to even consider a short trip during this time if it would be our first (and possibly only) trip to DL?

We are WDW veterans but we tend to go off season when crowds aren't at their peaks. I am trying to figure out what to even expect. Is it 1-2 hour waits for everything?

Hmmm...I hate to tell anyone not to go to DL, but that is the most crowded time at the Resort. It is not unusual for the parks to reach capacity and it is very, very busy. A short trip will mean you will probably not get to experience everything you want to do since it is very busy.

However, the parks are beautiful that time of year and there are really spectacular fireworks and decorations. A good touring plan will get you on a decent number of rides, but there will be people everywhere you look, lol. If you are used to WDW in the off season, I am afraid you will think DL quite crowded and insane!

As a first and only visit to DL, a short trip during the busiest season would not be my recommendation. But it isn't unworkable, either.

If this is your once in a life time chance, I say go for it. Go early, use the fast pass system as much as you can. Enjoy the decorations. Yes there will be long lines and people everywhere. However, I would love to be at disneyland with Christmas decorations everywhere regardless of crowds. You know how to work WDW, Disneyland is easier because everything is closer together at least!

First AND only? It'll be fun and super-busy. If you say "only" because of the cost, then I would go at another time if crowds are a problem for your group. If you say "only" because this is your only free time for the next year (or ever, gasp!), then I would definitely go for it!

... and yes, long waits of 1-2 hours or more. Best to use a touring plan to save time.

as the others have said, it WILL be very crowded. But you still will have a great time! and its really nice when all the holiday decorations are up. Just utilize your FP and arrive as early as possible. Make sure you set your expectations reasonably so you are not disappointed when you cannot see everything you wanted to.
