For anyone who has been down the week following New Year’s, what are the crowds like?

We have been down in July (never again) October and the week following Thanksgiving so I’m curious.

It will be deserted compared to July. Just remember the Marathon and Half Marathon are the weekend of Jan 7-8. That has little effect on park attendance but it can tie up traffic those two mornings.

Agree with Bob P. I would add that the weather can be downright COLD during this time. The year we went that week, I felt colder than I ever did in the "below-zero" temperatures of Minnesota! We did hear that it was a record setting cold snap for Florida, though. Anyway, plan for both warm and cold wether.

Marathon people had no impact on the parks as far as we could tell - we saw no crowds at all. We waited for nothing. We took a cab over to the Poly for an early breakfast (from the BWV) on the Sunday morning of the actual marathon and although the cab driver was nervous about it - there weer a few detours, we had no trouble at all. By the time we were ready to leave, the runners and spectators were all gone.

We arrived on New Years day a few years ago and it was almost empty, loved that we could get on any thing we wanted and eat with out ADR.

The down side was the weather, cold all week but we still had a great time and got to extend our wardrobe with new sweatshirts :Pinkbounc

I agree that crowds are typically low, but I wonder if it may be a bit more crowded this year due to school breaks and where the holiday falls. For the first time I've ever seen, our schools (suburb of Houston, TX) are out the full first week of Jan, and kids return to school on Jan. 9. We'll be taking advantage of the week off and will be at Disneyland! I'm pretty sure I saw a threat somewhere here where other areas were also out this week.

we went in 2004 I think we got there around the 7th or so and it was decidedly UN busy, most fast passes weren't open ,longest wait might have been 15 min. the only thing busy was sat afternoon at disney quest and weekend afternoon at fantasyland which were both terrible.

we were there during the marathon and while it was not busy in general we mistakenly went to ak for ee which was about when the runners started to get there also so much was delayed ect... so we pretty much wasted the ee, hard to get around cause lots of paths were closed( at one end only so you'd go all the way down them and bingo a road block) couldn't go in most show type attractions till later than normal, it was a general mess..wouldn't do that again , i'd check and know when the racers were expected at each park and not go near them till most were gone...know them all cause they changed ee at the last min from MK to AK

but in general it is fantastic as far as crowds go. ( usually go then or first wk in Dec having also made the July blunder once before)

I was there there last year Dec 29 04- Jan 7th 05 .... it was the BEST !!! Croud died down on Jan 2nd! I loved that time, no rain, perfect weather !!
