We will be in Disney parks on 5/16/10-5/18/10. Assuming the Touring Plans crowd calendar is remotely accurate, Sunday and Tuesday are listed as a 4 (Monday is a 6). What is a crowd level of 4 like?

I'd like to know too, we're going the 28th of this month and almost every day is a 4. Looks like 4 is the lowest, haven't seen anything lower...so what is a 4 crowd like? :confused3

With a crowd level of four the parks will appear virtually empty. I can assure you that most likely the level of 4 for that time period will increase when it gets closer to May. With the gift card promotions and the 25%/30%/35%/40% off rates that are being offered publicly the level of 4 is going to go up a bit for mid-May.

This is one of the lowest crowd ratings you'll see. You will have very little waits. We were there on days rated 7's and 8's and still only waited 30 minutes at the most. Granted, we did a good job of using fast passes.

We're getting there the 23rd! Sending some really good low crowd vibes. Hope you have a fun trip!! :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

Crowd level 4 means you can run around in circles with your eyes closed and probably not run into another human in many places. (Not recommended, however.) ;)

Walk-on or 5 minute wait times on most attractions, <15 waits on the extremely popular ones not uncommon.

This presents an opportunity to explain what the Crowd Calendar measures, and what it does not measure.

As they explain in the crowd calendar section of the UG website:

The Crowd Level column is based on a scale from 1 to 10, with 1 being least crowded conditions and 10 being most crowded. The scale measures the peak wait time at the Magic Kingdom's three headliner attractions (Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad). Thus, the Crowd Level is a "worst case" scenario, predicting the longest wait at any of these three attractions on a particular day. Note that predictions for parks other than the Magic Kingdom are an approximation.

So the Crowd Level column does not attempt to predict park capacity. It predicts the peak wait at the 3 MK Mountains at some point on a particular day.

The chart under the section quoted above shows a "4" as being a peak wait time of 35-44 minutes on the MK Mountains, and an "approximation" of a 60 minute peak wait at Epcot, 35 minutes at DHS and 40 minutes at AK.

This is a GREAT week to go! I've been and the crowds are so light and the weather is perfect! Enjoy!

A 4 would be awesome, but I am very surprised the middle of May would be listed as that. I went in May 2008 (first week) and it was always 6-7's

Well we will be there the same time, and a 4 would be sooooo nice! I bet it will be a little bit busier than a 4, but not packed. Last year the crowds were moderate, and it was the week leading up to Memorial Day. This year we are going the same dates, but Memorial Day is the following week. Lets hope the crowd calenders are right!

A crowd level of 4 is nice - even the 6's and 7's aren't bad (in my opinion).

We will be visiting the first full week in May - and the crowd calendar for that time (as of now) is very similar to the second week....I'm sure the levels will rise a little...but hopefully not much.

Have a safe and fun trip!

Wow...I hope the number don't change because 4's are predicted for most of our trip next October as well! We have only been during spring break and June with 8's and 9's!! I suppose we would think we were in heaven with 4's!!

We are going April 26-May 4 and just wonder what kind of crowds we should expect? Our DVC reservation is set and we can't change so no matter what we are going.

We are arriving the same day, hope we keep those 4's too!

OP, we have been there several times when the crowds were 4's, week of Labor Day (before free dining came out) was always fours as was the first 2 weeks of December (before Travel Channel and Disney adverstised that one to death) and the parks were virtually empty. Only the headlier attractiosn (Space, Splash, Soarin, Test Track, RnR, Tot, TSM, EE, etc) will have lines and at the peak parts of the day the lines will be about 30 min or less. You will be able to get good ADR times and even a walk up or two at some places. Also even during traditional lunch time the CS locations will not be lined up out the doors (but there will be short lines). It is a great time for touring the parks b/c you can get so much done. BUT I agree with the other poster those 4's will probably be gone with all the promos that just came out. Keep checking back b/c the crowd calendar updates with more accurate info closer to the dates.

Was wondering, has anyone been down over Mother's Day weekend, and does that put a spike in crowd levels, or is that not considered a crowd holiday (MLK Day Weekend, President's Day Weekend, etc)

Any help, greatly appreciated.

We just got back from a trip. Wed Dec 16 was listed as 8, Thurs Dec 17 was listed as a 5 and Fri Dec 18 was listed as a 4. I think the 8 for Wed was high, because Epcot seemed EMPTY. There were waits for the main attractions, but not as long as usual and there were not many people walking around. We went to MK on Thursday (5) and while there seemed to be alot of people around, most rides were virtually walk on. Midday, the wait for Space Mountain was only 30 minutes. This was an extra magic hour morning so we had planned on hitting the park early and leaving once the crowds got heavy. We left about 3, and the waits were still very short compared to what we normally see at that time. We only waited about 5 minutes to meet the princesses around 1pm. Friday (4) we went to Animal Kingdom and the crowds were not bad once again, although I do think that the wait for Everest was close to an hour when we went to use our Fastpasses. Most rides were walk on, really the only wait we saw was for Everest and Primeval Whirl (20 min). We rode the safari early and didn't check back to see what that wait ended up being. We went back to AK on Dec 21 which was supposed to be an 8 crowd level and :scared1: the crowds were crazy! We could hardly move! If the crowds during the time you are going really do end up being 4, you are going to love it!

We were there Dec 4-13. All that week we UG had numbers of 4s and 6s. I only planned to go to parks on 4 days and recommended days. I was so excited to have the park "virtually empty". Now, I have never been in peak season, so I can't say what that looks like, but HOLY COW!!! If that was a 4, I do not EVER want to see an 8, 9 or 10!!!! While the wait times for rides according to UG was right on, I never anticipated the amount of people walking around in the parks. I really wanted to throw the touring plans out the window, but I couldn't. Follow, follow follow the TPs and you will be fine. We did and saw everything we wanted to, just be prepared for there to be ALOT of people in the parks and the walk ways to be very crowded. But, like I said, have never been in peak season and I understand "crowded" is all relative. Hope you have great Vacation!!!
