Crowd calendar for August

I have read numerous threads on the seemingly increased number of crowds over the past few months. We have typically traveled the last week or two of August for a number of year, which was typically slower, even with FD. Easy WDW's crowd calendar just came out for August 2013, and they are mostly 5, 6, and 7s, which seem a bit higher than in the past for that time frame.

Is anyone with access to the other crowd calendars (I don't have any subscriptions) noticing that they are also higher during that time frame (I was specifically looking from 8/18-8/27. Thanks!

We are going Aug. 24th to Sept 1. and looking at past years it is indeed higher then it has been. It was usually 2 or 3 for this same week (from looking at past crowd calanders) and now they seem to be all 4 and 5's. I've been looking at Easy WdW and Touring Plans. Not sure how this really tanslate into numbers of people but last time we went was early March and most of them were 8's so I guss it should be about 1/2 the number of people. I've been looking for the parks with the lowest crowds according to Easy, Touring Plans and Undercover Tourist (though this one is just to use as a tie braker). I would have perfered the 2 or 3 levels but as I can't convince DH to let the kids miss the first 4 days of school we'll have to manage with larger crowds. Wish I knew how to factor in the water parks to picking my days but I guess we just have to hope for the best with those!

we have been using Touring plans for forecasts for our past 2 trips and it did seem to help with crowds.One of the trips was during Hurricane Isaac(end of Aug 2012) and it was desolate in all the parks, with the weather being a light sprinkle.Longest wait we had was Big Thunder and that was 10 mins.

I was surprised to see the crowd predictions from easywdw too. They were definitely 3-5 last year during the last week of August. All the more reason to plan, plan, plan!

In 2010 and 2011 the calendar placement of Labor Day caused some issues with the last week of August, with some schools rudely starting before labor day. Many familes did not go to WDW that week that might have otherwise. I can't speak for last year as we didn't go.

This year it is clear that families can depend on the week through the holiday weekend so we will see slightly higher crowds - which are actually a return to normal for that week. We've been traveling that week since our daughter reached middle school and we find it's a reasonable time for crowds.

Honestly I think this years predictions are far more realistic than last years. We've gone for the last week in August 3 years in a row and last year was much busier. This seems about right to me.

Thank you! Yes, these number look to be around the same, some up, some down. Easy WDW has the first two days 7 - yikes...definitely higher than I am used to at this time!

We would have gone a few days later too, but my DS12 has orientation starting on the 29th, so we need to be back early even though the kids don't start school until after Labor Day.

My thoughts exactly! Last year was definitely more crowded than the previous two years (or else I was making the same dining and park choices as everyone else...)
