We're staying at the Grosvenor Resort - next week :) So excited

We're not hiring a car and was wondering where the Crossroads centre is and is it within walking distance.

Also, everyone always says to shop in Orlando - is it really cheaper say at Gap than it is here?

Thanks

Ang

:D :D

I haven't actually been to Crossroads myself yet but will be staying at the Courtyard DTD in December. From what I have read the Crossroads shopping centre is about a 15 minute walk away, in the opposite direction to Downtown Disney.

Shopping in Orlando is cheaper than here. Using Gap as an example, the Gap shop in Pointe Orlando was slightly cheaper than UK but not enough to justify a taxi fare. The other shops at Pointe Orlando were a bit too pricey for me although the toyshop is well worth a look if you have kids. The Gap Outlet at Belz was cheaper than outlets here but it was just after Christmas when I was there and the sales were on. A good rule of thumb I found was 1$ = 1£ but then you have to add sales tax which would make standard prices on clothes roughly 20 - 25% cheaper in Orlando

Angie, the Crossroads plaza is a decent walk from the Grosvenor but easily do-able for non-Americans, LOL! The only hassle is getting across the main road (Highway 535) in front of the plaza. I'm sure you'll find plenty of decent shopping wherever you go, but the Orlando Premium Outlets (about a 10-minute cab ride from the Grosvenor) is a big hit with just about everyone - especially us Brits.

All right Simon, I resent that. ;) I'll have you know that I walk. Our local mall's parking lot is absolutely HUGE! Takes me forever to get to the car, especially when I can't remember where I've parked it.

Careful crossing that highway. We aren't used to seeing people do that . . . walk, you know.

Don't worry too much about how to get across the main road. Certainly when we were there they had a Little Green Man, and also a nifty countdown to tell you how long you'd got before you had to start running. ;)

Thanks for the replies - sounds like a distance I can manage :) and it'll burn a few burger meals off too!

The countdown wasn't there three weeks ago - but there's a big orange then red hand that comes up to give you a clue to run;) We braved this crossing a couple of times during our stay at the Sheraton Safai - got the hang of all the different crossings eventually, but have to say most of the motorists were very good - and patient:D
