Does anyone have any information on what we would need to cross the border with a pet bird? We have a little male pacific parrotlet that we're hoping to take with us in December. Just don't know what we need to do so. Can't seem to locate much information on it either.

Thanks:D

Talk to a travel agent. They would have all the details. You can also talk to your vet.

I'm curious though. Are you staying at a hotel? Hotels are extremely unlikely to allow birds because they are VERY loud (even louder than dogs because they tend to screech) when they get going. If your staying at a hotel, you had better ask them if it's ok if you bring the bird with you.

The Royal Pacific Resort allows animals. Also, a parrotlet is smaller than a budgie, so even when chirping is not loud.

I have found TAs to be rather useless in knowing much about anything in regards to passports and the myriad of regulations about what may or may not be taken across borders.
The US Department of Agriculture has a website dedicated to the importation of pet birds into the United States. The USDA defines pet birds as those that are imported for personal pleasure of their individual owners and are not intended for resale.

Hi there! Just wanted to let you know that if you call the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (Animal health) in your local area they will tell you exactly what you need (health certificate etc.) before you hit the U.S.
Have a good one!:teeth:

Thanks for all the info, guys! I'll look into it and make sure I get what I need.
