Has anyone ever pieced together a new pattern from an existing one?

I have a pattern that says "I (HEART) CATS". It has cats on it. I'd like to make something that says "WELCOME", using similar lettering and the same cats. I finally figured out how to redo the letters using PCStitch, and I could probably cut out the various cats and scotch tape them to the new pattern.

Anyone have any advice? Would it be easier if I scanned the pattern to my computer and cropped, cut and paste? Can I do it on PCStitch?

Yes I have, but my method won't work for you. I use Adobe Illustrator to design my designs. LOL! Not the easiest way to do it, but it works for me. :D

Otherwise, I'd use graph paper.

Ah.

I'm going to experiment over the weekend, and see if any of my photo programs might work, which I doubt. I also think PrintShop might be of help. Someday, I am going to invest in Adobe Illustrator, because there are other things I've been wanting to do. If all else fails, it's going to be cut and paste.

I'll let you know how it ultimately comes out.
