cross border shopping

Another factor of our higher than US cost is the bilingual packaging. My Dad ran a distribution company about 15 years ago so basically he coordinated bringing goods into Canada and getting them to the stores. He was always complaining about the cost of French put onto products packaging and how American distributors were not forced to do it. The cost then trickles down to us, the Canadian consumer!

Also, for all of you who do the cross border shopping there are some great printable coupons that can make it even sweeter. I use a few sites like www.afullcup.om and www.hotcouponworld.com to preview flyers, find grocery coupons etc BUT if you go to www.mommysavesbig.com and click on the "retail" section of the printable coupons you will see a list of regularily updated coupons for stores like JCpenney, Office Depot, Joann's Fabrics, Kirklands, etc... plus links to sign up for emails from many stores like Borders, Aeopostale, Hollister etc and they will send you the printables all the time. It makes for a full email in box but the Border coupons are the best, sometimes as much as 40% off a regular priced item which I always use in the toy section for Lego or whatever (bought my son a Toy Story 3 big lego set @ paid 30 bucks when it was 79 here)Happy shopping!

Hey, that's great - thanks. I knew the US has many more coupon deals than we have (ever watched the show Coupon Hoarder - some of those people come out with the store owing them money - lol) just never knew where to get them. Friends of mine go over to Michigan on Sundays just to get their newspapers which apparently have tons of coupons in them, but I can't be bothered going over there just to get a newspaper!
