So, I got this in the mail last week and finally tried it out yesterday. All I have to say is, oh my goodness, where have you been all my scrappin' life?!?!?!?! Anyone else have one? I am seriously in love with not having to bang away at my coffee table now, LOL.

I haven't heard of this. What is it, something for eyelets? :confused3

I don't have one, but got a chance to use it at CKC. OMG! It's awesome!! :teeth:

laura&fam - it not only sets eyelets, it punches the holes for them as well.

We used it in a class & my only problem was that I didn't realize you didn't need to press to hard to set the eyelet! The first one I set, I had trouble holding the thing! It was a bit awkward in my hand...a bit too large for my small hand. So I used to hands to hold it. Anyway, I squeezed too hard & instead of getting the nice "flower" on the back of the eyelet, the back came right on around & out the hole! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Oh - and BTW...these were heavy eyelets we were setting, not those thing aluminum ones!

If you get one, practice first!

It's awesome!! With my normal eyelet setter, you have to smack for days with the little hammer. This thing, is like a giant hole punch, punches 2 different sizes of holes and then sets a combination of different eyelets and snaps.

Crop-A-Dile

I got mine from A Cherry On Top which lets you use a 40% off coupon as long as AFTER the coupon, you have spent $20.

You know what it's really cool for? Punching holes through layers of brown paper bags to make bag books! And you know what bag books are good for? ANYTHING Disney! Autograph books, mini-memory books, books for the kids to flip through... ahhhhh, I wish I had time to SCRAP!

Mom bought one at CKC and I love it!!!! I'm taking it with me to SDV too. I have a silent setter but this is so easy to use I'm sticking with it. I just need to try it on the mickey brads to see if it works. The coolest thing about my mom's is my dad will try to steal it so it gets to stay at my house.

Has anyone who has one ever tried it on the Mickey eyelets they sell at WDW? I love the look of those things but I cannot for the life of me get them to set right. If the Crop-a-dile works on those I'd buy it for that alone!

I haven't tried it on the WDW eyelets, but WOW it sure is nice. My local Archivers was demoing it and I loved how easy it was. I agree with other posters that it took forever to hammer those eyelets down. You couldn't do it when the baby was sleeping but now I can do it anytime. Yeah for the person who invented it!!

Are they really easy to use??? I have a hard time with my hands and can't use the other setters, cause I have weak hands and stupid carpul tunnel in both hands... Does this really work well?? :confused3 Is it really smooth like butta??

I'm not sure if they are available in stores more than likely in an LSS(local scrap store) before being in a craft store.

Yes it is smooth!! In fact Piratemate was right, I over squeezed at first and mutilated an eyelet the first time. I have small hands so I use both to get a good grip but it's easier than squeezing a can opener onto a can. Sorry that's the best description I can come up with. It also sets the specialty eyelets that don't have holes.

They are out in Craft Stores...I just saw one at Craft Warehouse just last week....it's been out for a while now.

ANYWAYS....not only does it easly cut/punches through layers...but it easly punches through thick chipboard....metal, leather, wood and CD's :goodvibes .

I got mine not to long ago...and best thing I like about it is...it has a sliding guage that you can set so each of your punchs is the same distance from the edge....no more rulers or just guessing :teeth: . The ONE thing I don't like...goes right with that guage...because you can't punch or set anything more than about an inch in. :guilty:

I saw one at Hobby Lobby. Debated between it and the silent setter, got the silent setter with my 40% off. Wasn't sure what the crop-a-dile was--seemed like it might be too good to be true. so, may use another 40% off sometime and get it now that I know it really does work. :sunny:

I saw a bunch today at Michaels. $27 minus the 40% would be better than what I paid online since I had to pay for shipping as well. :-)

PS-I have arthritis in both of my wrists and hands and I had absolutely no problem punching holes in 40 chipboard coasters and then setting the eyelets in those holes.

How do you use the gauge?!?!?! LOL That's great, I spent so much time lining everything up. DUH!!! LOL

I forgot to mention that the instructor for my CKC class said to make sure you read the instructions before using to set!! Extremely important! She said they'd gone through more than half of the ones she'd brought because people (including her at first) were using them in the most "obvious" way & it broke them!

There are 2 square pieces that turn so that you have multiple options for setting items. And if they're not turned to the correct setting, it wrecks the tool.

And going off of what piratesmate is saying above---keep the instructions so when you have something you don't usually set--like for me, it was snaps, you can make sure you are using the right settings and you don't mutilate your paper and embellishment or worse--your tool.

I have so many Mickey eyelets that I didn't use because I just mashed them to death with my hammer....the set beautifully with the crop-a-dile!!

And it cuts though chipboard like butter!!

Cool! I will have to look for one at Michaels or AC Moore with my coupons! Thanks everyone! I am really excited now!!!

Yet another purchase I can blame these boards for!!! I'm going to have to take a second job just to keep up with my scrap fixes. DH may stage an intervention and force me into SA : Scrapaholics Anonymous. ;)

Our Mike's had them a few weeks ago, got one with 40% off coupon. I couldn't beleive it when I saw them there, our Mike's is usually about 1-2 years behind everyone else's with getting new stuff in. It's an awesome deal with a coupon.
