Does anyone out there have experience in the World with Crohn's disease? I was diagnosed in August, am trying my fourth medication with no success, and am getting frustrated. We go to Disney in 2 weeks. Lately, I've been eating a pretty boring diet--lots of yogurt, applesauce, cheese and crackers, jello cups. Still trying to figure out what I can eat, but I think the medicines have been making my symptoms worse, although they are still quite manageable (thank God!) Just want some ideas on what/where to eat. I expect to be eating grilled chicken sandwiches. Hoping to get some Silk Milk and cereal and eat breakfast in the room. I feel bad for DH who really enjoys eating out. I don't want to put a damper on our trip, but I know I'll have to be rather selective. We've only made 2 ressies--one for Wishes Dessert Party and one for dinner at Cape May (DH is a seafood lover and I really wanted to do this for him:)
Thanks for any ideas. I'm sure I'll be able to find some stuff, but it never hurts to ask!

Brenda (oybolshoi) writes many dining reviews (she's hilarious!!) and often talks about dealing with Crohn's disease (she refers to herself as "the old Crohn" :lmao:) Here's a link to one of her DR's, I'm sure if you contacted her she'd be happy to give you some tips/insights. ::yes::

Good luck and I hope you have a great vacation! :thumbsup2

A lot of the medications made my symptoms worse as well, which made no sense to me. Luckily I have been in remission for over a year now. As long as I too much of my trigger foods I am fairly stable. My trigger foods are whole seeds, nuts, salads. Anything thats a whole grain type food. We will be going back in January!

Good luck with your trip! My wife has had Crohn's for about 20 yrs now (remission for ~10, knocks on a LOT of wood) so I understand your husbands situation. Overall WDW has always worked hard to accomdate her, the phrase "food allergy" has taken good care of her.

Like you, she basically lives on grilled chicken when eating out. It's hard to make waiters/chef's understand what you mean by telling them you have Crohn's or can't eat certain "trigger" foods. Fortunately, we have a good grasp of what she can't eat so we go straight to the "food allergy" warning. With the exception of one visit to Tony's, cast members & chef's have always gone above and beyond to make things enjoyable for her.

I hope this doesn't disrupt your trip and be sure to post up afterwards.
