Crocs on Men. Especially tall/large guys.

We were there in Feb and I saw lots of Crocs, entire families in Crocs. DH & I took ours and did great. Our trip before this one, I ended up in a wheelchair due to my hip pain. This time, I did great. DH noticed the difference also. We both decided to pare down our athletic shoes to one pair of white & one pair of black when we got home to make room for more colors of crocs. Be comfortable!

DH, 5'11" 200lbs, has brown Crocs and wore them the entire trip last time - with white socks! He brought sneakers but only wore them on the plane trip to Orlando. DD and I also wore ours the entire trip and our feet felt great!

DS#1, 6'2" 200lbs, is a shoe junkie - he has about 10 pairs of fancy athletic shoes - and wasn't going to be caught dead in Crocs. Heh! He stole his sister's Athens and wore those a couple of times and now wants a pair.

DS#2, 6'2" 180lbs, has black Off-Road Crocs and wore those most of the trip...with socks. ;)

I have problems with one foot (broken when I was a kid) and lower back problems; I was really worried about getting around at the parks. Now with my Crocs, I know I don't have to worry - just go and have fun. :cool1: I'll take the comfort over the style any day!

My DH is an average size guy, but he laughed at every pair of Crocs he saw on our last visit to WDW, including mine, even though he was there with his foot still in a cast after having broken BOTH feet on the same day (July 4). He swore he would never wear anything that looked like Crocs.

Fast forward to last Saturday. The dog got loose, and he grabbed the first pair of shoes he found to go and chase him. They were MY Crocs, which were really a bit too small for him. The dog came back within a few minutes, and we went right to the mall so that he could buy a pair of Crocs that fit him. He says he will never wear anything else again. Who cares what your feet look like when your walking around in the parks? You can't possibly have a good time when your feet hurt. He told me yesterday (and it's the first time in 34 years of marriage that I've heard this) that his feet feel good!

Now he can't wait to try them out at WDW!

I wear my croc flip flops all over. I love them. I had a pair of the Mary Jane style shoes which are gone now. BF stole them and threw them away after buying me a nice pair of dress shoes.

I love them. I would wear them everywhere. I did find a rip off brand though that had as much heal padding in theirs as the flip flops do. I personally am dying for a pair of the Mickey crocs from the shops on Disney property. They just only sell the hot pink ones to the kids. The ladies style is more of a coral. The Disney ones are a bit more money. $37.95 for the adults. Wahh. They come in black red or pink. I thought my Mary Jane crocs were nice for the park. I did not get any major foot damage. Just not enough cushioning on the heal from my old dancer's legs.

BF wears a 12 I think which is pretty funny looking since he is not super tall. All shoes are pretty rediculous in that size regardless.

what ever happened to wearing plain old Nike Shox or Nike Air's???? At least they looked good.....

I will have nightmares over the plump dude in the orange crocs.....

Too expensive and too hot for Disney in the summer :P Also they do not dry easily and sand gets stuck in them.

I enjoyed laughing at Mario in his Italian Crocs but you are right that nightmares might follow tonight.

So, what are the opinions out there from guys and DH's of ladies on here about large mens crocs, color, socks and their color, etc? Is there a color that doesn't look as odd with white socks on?

My DH is 6'1", 185-190lbs and wears a size 11. I dragged him kicking and screaming Croc shopping last summer for a pair for him. He thought they looked ridiculous. I kept saying they are so comfortable...you have to try. He finally bought a khaki pair and although he won't fully admit it, he really likes them and they always end up in his gear when we travel. He wears them without socks when he's wearing shorts. Same for me. I put white socks on with them when I'm wearing pants (I've got light blue ones) I really like the khaki colour on him because it's the most skintone-like and tends to blend in. It's the only colour he'll be caught dead in. They'll be going on our Disney trip ...:thumbsup2

As a 6 foot man I was gonna tell you NO NO NO. There is no way a man should wear these. You will look ridiculous. The Mario Batali pic only reinforced that thought.

But then I saw the pic of the grumpy shirt guy wearing the tan colored ones and thought, okay, maybe you can get away with it. Maybe in Disney, but that is it okay. In Disney only, no bright colors. If you are caught outside of Disney with them, or wearing anything other than black or tan, your man card will be revoked.

;)

There are NO circumstances in which crocs look good on a man. They are the ugliest, most ridiculous footware you'll ever see on a man or a woman. Men look completely ridiculous in them.
But when you're
A) on your feet all day, and
B) on vacation in Disneyworld,
WHO CARES HOW YOU LOOK? If you're walking around disney world worried about how goofy you look, you're missing the point.

At some point, comfort trumps style. I have no idea where to draw the line, but I'm certain that a disney vacation falls on the "comfort" side of the line.

edited to add: FWIW, I own crocs, i bought them for a disney vacation after reading about them here, they were great for walking around in the parks, I wear them constantly around the house, but rarely outside the house.

No experience with Crocs, but I can say... don;t wear black shoes in the summer!

The color black absords infrared (heat) energy, and you'll cook your feet. They'll sweat. You'll get blisters. I worked as an EMT one summer at a park, and more folks came in with foot blisters and pain wearing black shoes than anything else.

I am really trying to get onboard with the whole Crocs thing.. they just don't look like they'd be very comfy. But all of you can't be lying, right? I just don't think I could ever get DH to wear them.

What you should do is buy a pair for him and hide them in the bottom of your pack. Towards the end of a long day, like when you're standing around waiting for the evening parade/show, pull out the crocs and dare him to try them. They are ridiculously comfortable.

My DH just got his first pair. He decided if he was going to look ridiculous he was gonna go all out. He has red mickey ones--yup. He is only about 5'7" and somewhat heavy. There would be nothing manly about this except he loves the comfort and he has never been one to care what anyone else thinks. He wore them to Costco on Sunday. No I am just waiting for someone to go hey we saw you there:rotfl: I have red mickey ones to so we even match--the poor man.
