Does anyone know how to clean Crocs? I know about the "butter" stuff- but these are really dirty (from gardening)... washing machine? special soap?
Thanks in advance!]

Dish washer. Just put them in the dishwasher on the top rack. they will come out like they were brand new.

Because of variances in dishwashers, I for one would not recommend it.

I know many people who have had great luck with it, however, I didn't have as great an experience. They are still very much wearable, but they got a little melted in spots - a few co workers have had the same experience.

Couple of things you can do which I have personally tried....

Throw them in the laundry (I had several pairs by themselves in their own load) w/ detergent and some bleach. I did this and they turned out great.

For day to day cleaning (especially w/ my DD4 who gets them very dirty at school) I run them under hot water in the sink. I have used Clorox wipes, and I have also used those scrub sponges with success. They really do clean pretty easily. I can get them just like new. :)

I have soaked them in a pan of soapy water for a while then gone over them with a soft bristled scrub brush.

Wipe them dry, go over them with a little Armor All and they should look as good as new!

Off the subject...I just bought my 1st pair of Crocs over Labor Day weekend, JUST because of this board. Now, a mere 3 weeks later, I have 2 pairs, DD has some, sis has 2 pairs and mom has one. I owe you guys a big THANK YOU! I couldn't figure out what all the fuss was about. I sure know know! :teeth:

I just wear them into the shower once a month. wipe them down when i am done washing. It works great.

I also wore them in the shower and scrubbed them with my "scrubbie" sponge. However, they were very slippery when I tried to walk in them, so I took them off and set them on the bath mat.

I have used dishwasher soap solution (mix with a little water) and an old toothbrush. A bit of work - but no shrinking and you get an arm work out while doing it :)

I use Ivory bar soap and a fingernail scrubber. This cleans them up great!

Also like someone else mentioned: Armour All Just don't get any on the bottom of them.

I've put mine through the washer a couple of times with no problems :wizard: . Have used both non-chlorine and regular bleach.

I used 409 spray on mine today and hot water--took the mud right off!

I heard that some people had problems with crocs shrinking in the dishwasher.

So I just use soap and water.

Thanks

Yes, you can definitely use bleach on your Crocs. Don't know that I would use STRAIGHT bleach on them, but diluted is fine. The Clorox wipes don't actually have bleach in them, I don't think.

The other thing you can use on them is Turtle Wax (this is actually on Crocs website) and that sort of does the same thing as "Crocs Butter" and I'm sure it is cheaper.

Gotta love the Crocs! :)

Does anybody know if this removes the stain on darker Crocs from suntan lotion/spray? We have a couple navy or black pairs within our family that I'd kind of just packed away because of this reason. The first pair I didn't realize what had happened to it, just that it had white smears all over it that even though I scrubbed them with various things never came off. Saw it happen recently with my son's black pair when I was spraying him with the suntan lotion - again I can't remove it. Do you think washing them in the soap & bleach would help or make it worse? Has anybody else had trouble with suntan lotion?

My dh just sticks our Crocs in a bucket of Simple Green/water. Does the trick very nicely.

I have a pair of the Croc flip-flops, I can't remember what they are call right now. They are a light grey and orange. I wore them on a camping trip and got them really super dirty. I tried the washing machine and it didn't work very well. It got most of the dirt off but left a lot of stains on them. I used detergent but not bleach. If you have a light color and they are very dirty I wouldn't use the washer.

Is it really sanitary to put your Crocs in the dishwasher? The water would have to get pretty hot to kill the germs/bacteria on them, wouldn't it?
