Crocs--Anyone NOT like them at WDW for walking??

good to know...if I do get some, I'll have to do a test run at DL...although we're never really there for more than a few hours...

I bought some Mary Jane-style Crocs a few weeks before our trip in November. I tried to wear them at WDW, but after two days of wearing them, my shins hurt horribly. When I wore my Converse Chucks, I had no problems. I don't know if it's that my Chucks are well-broken-in and the Crocs weren't as broken-in. But my DD, whose Crocs were broken-in actually asked to wear her Chucks instead of the Crocs after two days in her Crocs.

So, I don't know. My DH didn't love his either. But I don't know if it's that we are used to our other shoes or what. But I actually wore pants when it was in the 80s because I wanted to wear my Chucks (and I'm not a big high-top with capris person for adults).

Does anyone have any experience of Crocs and Plantar Fasciitis?? Do they offer enough arch support??

I do! I have the University of Michigan Crocs and love them! They are the only shoes that my foot doesn't hurt in. However, it's finally cold here and even with socks all the holes freeze your foot so I bought the All Terrain Croc. They kind of look like clown shoes:lmao: but I don't care they feel great!:woohoo:

I have two pairs of Niles, two pairs of Athens flip flops, two pairs of Aspens, three pairs of Caymans, two pairs of the Beach, and one pair of the Disney ones. To me the Aspens, Beach, and Caymans are the most comfortable. The Athens are OK, the Disney ones seem tighter around the top of the foot, and the Niles are the only ones to ever give me blisters (right at the base of my left big toe and on the ball of the same foot). I usually carry a couple pairs of Crocs, but wind up in my Teva Mush flip flops, which I love for WDW.

FYI: I'm also a nurse and wear my Aspens to work almost nightly. I can wear them for 9 hours and never know they're on my feet.

I used mine for 12 days in the parks (including Universal) last Feb. and I did not get one blister or ache in my feet. I initially bought them "only" for WDW, but since then I have worn them a few times a week. I think they super ugly, but my feet thank me for the sacrifice. I actually really need new ones because mine are super dirty. Anyways, I suggest them to everyone.

You know you can just throw them into the washing machine. I washed mine a few weeks ago (because after wearing them for 72 hours not even taking them off to sleep while DH was in hospital they did start to get a little odor) and they came out just like new, a little tighter to start but streched right back out.

I wore my Crocs only one day of my trip last year. I wore them to AK specifically because I hate when my sneakers get wet on Kali River Rapids. I would give them the rating of "okay." I didn't find them to be any more or less comfortable than my Nikes.

On the other hand, DD3 LIVED in hers all last summer and begs daily to let us wear the new pairs she got for Xmas. She is a definate Croc fan!

My PF is OK with the crocs. I was afraid of having a flare-up during our week long trip in Sept. No flare up! They are the best shoes for my feet. I'll be wearing them to WDW again for sure.

Ya know, I never thought of it! What a fab idea. Thanks!

We decided tto buy some for our trip when I saw the Disney ones. I bought each of the boys the Disney and I got the Cayman and DH got the All-Terrian. We have been wearing them around here and they are ugly but so comfy.

We are giving them a try in 14 days..:yay:

I have the clog style Crocs, some slip on athletic sandal like Crocs, and the the flip flop Crocs. In the summer, I LIVE in flip flops, so the middle thing between the toe doesn't bother me at all. Last May, I was so confident in my Crocs flip flops that I didn't even bring any tennis shoes to Disney (big mistake). By the end of the first day, I had the deepest blister on the bottom of my heel (where the shoe kindof curves up on your heel). We ended up going to the Nike store in International Drive?? and buying me some tennis shoes. I wear the Crocs flip flops all around home, the store, etc. and never had any trouble. But walking at Disney was just too much!

my beach crocs were comfortable as long as I wore socks. If I wore them barefoot then I would get blisters on the top/side of my feet. I actually ended up rotating them with my Nikes. The Nikes hurt the bottom of my feet by the end of the day, and the next day I woud wear my Crocs w/socks and then the Nikes again.

I have PF, too and was a Birkie girl until I met Crocs. The knock offs do NOT do anything for me, but the Crocs are fantastic. I took my Beach and my Mary Janes on a trip in November that was a convention (on concrete, I was a vendor/teacher, so on my feet all day), a week at WDW, and another convention and never had any foot pain. I usually have to soak my feet in cold water to numb the PF pain after a day in the parks, but never had to this time. I've added a Mickey pair to my collection and desperately need something without holes, but I can't make up my mind. :hippie:

BTW, I grew up in Europe, so Crocs don't look strange to me at all, very Euro-Design!

I LOVE my disney crocs! I haven't tried them around disney (although I did wear my cheapo $3 flip flops from walmart when we were there last time and I was fine). Anyway, I wore my croc flip flps to Sea World San Antonio and they were great! I will defintly be taking them with me to disney, hopefully I'll have some new disney crocs to take with me when I go too.
My feet do really well with flip flops, not so good with tennis shoes!

Does anyone have any experience of Crocs and Plantar Fasciitis?? Do they offer enough arch support??
NOOOOO, they do NOOOOT! The arch is high enough, but too soft so doesn't support the bones at all.

I love Crocs, but only for resort or around the house/yard. They feel great after a day of being on your feet, but if you have plantar fasciitis, stick with the shoes your podiatrist recommends!

I had 2 1/2 years of suffering with plantar fasciitis, and bought Crocs on the recommendations of so many on these boards. At first I thought they were a miracle, a wonder...they felt so good! So I started wearing them to work...and my feet felt great for day 1, not so great on day 2, then actually worse on day 3. I asked my podiatrist about them, and he said that the arch was too soft, and my weight was very quickly breaking them down. Also, he said they have no lateral support, which if you overpronate, means your gait is unsupported.

If you have no problems going barefoot, these are really fun, comfy shoes. If you need your gait/arch/foot supported in any way, they are NOT a miracle cure!

By the way, my PF finally resolved itself, with cortisone shots, corrective orthotics, and weight loss. I wear Keen Montereys in the parks when I'm not wearing my orthotics, and they were absolutely wonderful!

Mindy - glad to hear your PF resolved itself....I was not so lucky and had Plantar Fasciatomy surgery in October. The only shoes that do not hurt my feet at this time are my Crocs. All other shoes seem to squeeze right into the incision site (making it feel like a PF flare up.....really bad). Even my podiatric surgeon was wearing them the day of my operation. LOL.

We all love our Crocs, brining them on our next trip, but will also bring our athletic shoes. DH and DS love them but would not be caught in the Parks with them....wearing around the resort is another story.

I have worn Crocs at home (and even at work) for the past year and had no problems whatsoever. I took them to WDW with me this past November and wore them to AK on the first day. By mid-afternoon, the top of my foot was hurting so badly that I could barely walk. That evening, I noticed that I had a huge bruise on the top of my foot where the foot hits the Croc when you walk. The following day, I could not wear them -- it hurt to even put them on. I tried my Teva sandals and I could stand the strap to hit where the bruise on my foot was. I had to wear my tennis shoes and I had blisters by the end of the day. The next day (and every day after that) I wore my Teva sandals. My dd's friend wore her Crocs every day but the first day and loved them -- didn't have one problem and her feet felt great. It took 2 weeks after we returned home for that bruise to go away on the top of my foot.

I had a pair of crocs which I found very comfortable. I wore them to work regularly for about 4 months. Suddenly I started having severe knee pain. Turns out that because they are made so wide and my feet are not wide, that my feet "sloshed" around in them and caused my knees to move around too much. I stopped wearing the crocs and thankfully my knees have fully recovered. The initial comfort of Crocs are definitely not worth the knee damage in the long run. Just my Experience.

I find them to be really slippery when wet. I thought i could wear them as a boat shoe, but if I stepped into the lake, my foot would slide all over the place in the shoe.

I still use them to wear to the pool, though, so that I don't get my sneakers wet.

I love my crocs, I ahve the Cayman crocs, I ordered them off of Zappos.com last year after coming home from Disney and seeing everyone wearing them! I wore them all summer, everywhere, and I still wear them everyday, even in the snow! Just put on a pair of socks, and voila! warm comfortable feet!

I just ordered a pair of Mickey's to wear through the summer to break them in for our December WDW trip. When you wear them, the heat of your feet helpss mold it to your foot, so it's kind of custome to your own foot.

I ordered a pair for my DH as well, last year he wore his Nike sneakers that he wears at home, and they gave him a terrible blister, he was in pain the whole week from it. Hopefully the crocs will be better for him, but we have a long time till we can report back on how we did in WDW with the crocs...
