Crocs--Anyone NOT like them at WDW for walking??

Aside from looks, did anyone wear crocs at Disney and wish they had not? Anyone ever wear crocs and have your feet hurt at night and switch to athletic shoes?

I am debating whether to try crocs for our first trip to WDW or just buy some good athletic shoes. Any insight and experience with both would be great!!! I tend to get sore feet after walking alot. I have had the problem since college when I would waitress double shifts. I don't want to end up with sore feet after one day of walking at MK.

I bought a pair of Niles last year and despised them! After just 3 hours in AK it rubbed a huge blister on the top of my foot. I've never worn them since. I'll just stick to my Rainbow sandals, but I wouldn't mind trying the flip flop "Athens" version of crocs

halld, I think the kinds of crocs most folks wear are the one that look like clogs. They have a strap that you can put behind your foot or leave over the top if you want to just slip them on. I tried on a pair the other day for the first time and they are cushy and comfy, but I do think that your feet would sweat real bad in them. I love slip on shows at home, but at the parks I think I will stick to nikes and socks. I think bringing several pairs of different shoes to WDW would be your best bet. I will never understand how folks can wear flimsy flip-flops all day, that would kill my feet!!.....Go to the crocs web-site to look at the different styles. I don't think they are ugly at all, I love clogs!

I'm not sure that I could wear anything else to the parks but my Crocs . Wore them last year and they were the best thing ever.
DS16 has a problem with his feet sweating and the Dr. told him to wear his Crocs more. So now when he plays tennis matches he takes them to wear between matches. DS14 always had sore feet. Never could go all day long without resting his feet. Last summer he never complained, he has worn Crocs all winter and just got his new summer pair last week. We believe in Crocs. I have hit the age where comfort comes before style, but I think they are cute.

After reading these boards, I bought a pair of Crocs Beaches last week to see if they would work for me at Disney. They're really comfortable to wear around the house, but when DH and I went for a walk, they started rubbing a tiny spot on the top/inside of my foot where the shoe ends. I think that I'll still try them at Disney but maybe wear socks and moleskin just in case.

I'll still get some for DD, though. She has WIDE feet but a narrow heel and is SO hard to find shoes for! These might be the perfect thing!

Can't stand them. They gave me a blister, and were very uncomfortable. Back to my Earth shoes.

Okay--so the downfalls I have seen so far are looks(for some), farting noises when feet are sweaty, and blisters. These are pretty important downfalls. I REALLY hate when my shoes make farty noises(even if others don't notice it drives me nuts ) and blisters are just plain painful for me.

I have also read on these boards about something called bodyglide that can keep you from getting blisters and chaffing on body areas that get "rubbed" alot when walking/running. Has anyone ever used bodyglide on their feet with crocs? I have seen that people used them when wearing athletic shoes and they got NO blisters (which sounds pretty impressive) so I am definitely going to buy some of that regardless of my decision to buy crocs.

Another question here....does anyone wear the little footie type socks with these? It seems to me that they would be almost invisible and would help with the rubbing and possible sweating.

I agree with the previous posters who reported their Crocs rubbed the skin or gave them a blister on the TOP of the foot - I had two raw spots after wearing the Crocs for only an hour or so, shopping. (No, I didn't have socks on, but wouldn't want to wear them with the Crocs- they're homely enough looking as it is). I could never wear them for a day at WDW! Anyway, DD, who has the same size feet as I do, but doesn't have as high an instep, is now happy that she has two pairs of Crocs - her's, and now mine.

Sorry, can't help with the Plantar Fasciitis question, but as for the blisters - the most important thing is getting the size right. When you are standing in Crocs (mine are the caymen model) they really shouldn't touch much of your foot at all.

I have walked for hours in mine with never a blister, have had farty feet though - that's not so pleasant and people don't believe me when I say "it's my shoes." Anyway, could be because I'm used to wearing them and have them, or maybe my feet, all broke in.

50 days, 20 hours and 10 minutes til we're back at Fort Wilderness and Star Wars Weekend.

Has anyone tried the flip flop style (sorry, cant remember the name!) ? How well do those work? I think the flip flops are the only ones I can bring myself to wear - I'm really fashion consious.

I have the Athens ones and they are great. Haven't worn them as long a day at WDW would be but I am very sensitive to uncomfortable shoes due to some knee and leg damage from a car accident. A day at IKEA has me taking pills to sleep at night from the pain if that gives you an idea. So far the Athens sandals have been WONDERFUL! I want another pair in a different color scheme. DH tried them on even though they are like 4 sizes too small and he liked them despite that. Go for it!! It seems no matter what any of us wear(and DH doesn't think Crocs are ugly either, BTW) we all end up with sore feet and a blister somewhere. .

You know it is so funny- last year we were there for 13 days and the only blister I got was where some moron ran over my heel with their stroller. And no, it wasn't my husband LOL! He came close though but this lady was just insane, practically running with the thing and didn't even flinch when she hit me. That was close to the beginning and it stayed nasty until after we were home for awhile. Sheesh, if I get a blister at least let it be because I wore cute inappropriate shoes

I am also a nurse and used to wear berkies. No more. I don't care how ugly crocs are they are so comfy!!!!!!!!!!!! Mine will be going with me to Disney.

I took my Ryka running shoes- which have been the most comfortable athletic shoes I have ever had- and my Crocs to WDW in January. I wore the Rykas the first day and my feet really were sore by the end of the day. So I switched to my Crocs the next day and ended up wearing them the rest of the week. I did wear short footie athletic socks which I think made a big difference. You need to wear good breathable cushioned socks no matter which type of shoe when you will be on your feet for such a long time IMO. I haven't had my Crocs in the summer, so I can't comment on noises, but they are the most comfortable shoes I own!

I first heard about crocs here on the dis board. I was in a local store and they had crocs on display, I decided to try them on and they just molded to my feet like butter. Since I did not care for the look of the Beach, I decided to order a pair of Nile on line. I live in New England, so I have only worn them around the house and they are so comfortable. I ordered the beach style for my DD's ages 8 and 4. They love them, they usally wear them back and forth to Karate because they are easy to slip on and off. We all plan on wearing our crocs for the Disney trip in 19 days (but who is counting).

Personally, I don't think they do. That was the problem I had with my second pair. I've found that a stiffer soled shoe with lots of sideways stability relieves my plantar fasciitis. I just don't get that from Crocs.

dug this thread up b/c of all the croc hype.

I'm a tennis shoe and sock WDW girl, and couldn't imagine doing all that walking in sandals. DH thinks that crocs are the most hideous things on the planet. We walked by several crocs kiosks this past week and I always stopped. He said "you WANT those??" and I said only if they are Mickey (which btw, do they not make those anymore?).

I'd like some alternatives to my Nikes for our trip this summer, but I might just end up wearing my skechers bikers mary janes on some days...

Are crocs those "try before you decide" sort of thing? I'd order them from shoebuy (my fave shoe site), but they don't have adult mickey ones anymore...

one more thing - I wear a 7.5, so would I get a small or medium? THANKS!

We went to Disney World in August, and I brought my crocs. I didn't wear them for walking around the parks. Too much rubbing on my feet, with or without socks. I wore tennis shoes with socks each day and no blisters. It worked well.

I love my crocs for around the house. I did start to get blisters @WDW I started wearing socks with them at the park and everything was ok.
