I read a reference in another post alluding to a controversial thread about crock pots ….. HOW can crock pots become an issue, can anyone post a link
(I did a search and couldn’t find one).
I am very curious. Thanks.

People bring crockpots to Disney and cook in their hotel rooms. Some people think it is no big deal and others think it is a fire hazard and stinks up other rooms with cooking odors.

I think the controversy about people who bring a crock pot to vacation at WDW and stew something up for dinner in the hotel room while they do the parks.

OMG, do they really do this? I always though everyone was joking around when I'd read those crockpot threads! Too funny, I barely like to cook at home, I certainly wouldn't be packing my crock pot to make a roast at disney!

I don't personally know anyone who has cooked in crock pots while hanging out at the parks but I bet it happens, lol.

The controversy is why it is or is not ok. Probably the best point I have heard made said that it is NOT ok because it's right in crock pot instruction manuals that the crock pot should not be left unattended. I know many people that do this when they go to work, but it's still against the published rules by crockpot manufacturers.

CROCKPOT...are you serious...geez, I barely remember my bathing suit when I go to WDW....(of course if you saw me in it that would be another SCARY THREAD)... :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Wow, thanks .... always amazing what people find to be unhappy/complain about.

This IS a good point and I have OCD issues with fire so I personaly dont let mine run if no one is in the house. I was more wondering how the conversation could turn "ugly".

Honestly, any thread where someone makes a suggestion trying to cut down on costs for a WDW vacation has a tendency to turn ugly. Even it the cost cutting measures are legal, within WDW rules, do not infringe on anyone else etc. , it can still turn ugly when someone suggests that if one has to cut any corners to get to WDW they can't afford it and would be better off spending their money on bills. JMHO. They only one I have not seen turn ugly is one on the resort board where people discussed how to mix your own cocktails in the hotel rooms to save time and money.

If you go to some of the really really hardcore budget sites, NOT THE DIS, you will see people suggesting you bring your own crockpot, george foreman grill, microwave and toasters to save money. People encourage each other about how wonderful it is to have homecooked meals to come back to after a long day at the park. I NEVER post how I really feel about it because you will be flamed about what a spendthrift you are and how you are just wasting money on those expensive Disney meals.

I would read about these trips on other boards and think I would stay home before I would drag all of those things on vacation with me and try and do dishes in a bathtub and feed the family while sitting on your bed.

Its one thing if you rent a villa or condo, but these are just regular rooms that people get and then set up mini kitchens.

While I enjoy breakfast and snacks in our room, the last thing I want to come back to is something in a crockpot that must be washed in a bathtub.

Are you sure about that? I have a current one that does not state it should be left unattended and it has a timer.

Yes, I also am member of hardcore budget sites and wowza some people would do a lot of crazy things just to save $$$. lol

I have issues with taking one on vacation because of fire safety codes per hotel rules.

I want to save money like everyone else but who wants to cook on vacation?? Come on! The park food is one of the reasons for going!

:lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: I can't stop laughing thinking of someone getting their pot roast all ready to go into the crock pot before leaving the resort. I find it so funny. But, hey if you can do it, more power to ya!

Well, it does seem extreme to bring major appliances on vacation. But I bring my own coffee pot because the coffee sucks at WDW and every hotel. I have a Gevalia pot that brews into two insulated cups.

I literally only know how to cook two things in a crock pot, and they both have 3 steps: add meat, add sauce, leave alone for a few hours.

That'd be coca-cola pot roast and "snausages" (cocktail weiners in a mix of BBQ and sweet/sour sauce).

As much as I love me some weiners, I can't image cooking them at WDW, unless I was there for like an extended stay, and thus probably in a condo.

a coffee pot would be no big deal. Many people travel with coffee pots and hot pots. The thought of major cooking on vacation is enough to make me want to stay home! This is why we never camp!

I'm with you.

If I have to do that much work on vacation, then it's not a vacation.

Oh thank goodness. I thought I was wacko because I bring a small 2 cup coffee maker with me to heat up hot water for tea. I drink tea like crazy and the coffee makers already in the rooms are usually pretty gross.

For a few minutes there I thought maybe I would be labeled as a wack job. :scared:

Too funny!

I couldn't bring my crockpot with me to Disney because I always use it outside on the back porch because I hate how it "stinks the place up!" :rotfl:

Smelling chicken with 40 cloves of garlic for 8 hours is TOOOOOO Much! :crazy2:

My best friend always brings her electric griddle and a bottle of bisquick complete, and they eat pancakes every morning. I bet the drive the people next to them NUTS :teeth:

LOL, gotta agree with the tea made in the coffee pot. It still tastes like coffee!!
