Time ago there were rumours about a merge between CRO and Walt Disney Travel.
Did this happen?

What are the cancelation / upgrade (downgrade) policies now?
Thanks

Sorry, I don't know the answer but hopefully someone who does will respond. I would like to know this, also.

This looks the "old" policy.
There were rumours that the two policies were merging and that to "downgrade" a room only (e.g. due to AP rating) a "fee" was needed.

No more news about that?
Thanks

I'm sorry I have to ask this...but, what is the difference between the two? Sometimes I wonder who I'm talking to. Do they have a different purpose? Is one better than the other to call? Thanks.

I just booked thru the 1-407-WDISNEY number and got a CRO CM, with the old cancellation policy of 5 days before the trip. I also just booked my Dad for a Canada At Par deal using the 1-407-WDW-STAR number that I was given for this deal and with that number I got the travel Company. Asked if I needed flights, transportation etc.

See the link mentioned in "GoldenOldie" post.
Difference is mainly cancelation policy.

There are two primary differences.

One is in the deposit you must put down for the room. With a CRO reservation, you put down one night's rate plus tax and the balance is due when you check into your resort. A WDTC reservation requires $200 down and the balance paid in full prior to 45 days of arrival.

The other is the cancellation policy. CRO reservations let you cancel right up until the 6th day prior to arrival and get a full refund. WDTC reservations require you to cancel 45 days prior to arrival for the full refund. Between 45 and 6 days, they will charge you a $100 cancellation fee. And if you cancel less than 6 days prior, they charge a $200 fee.

There has been talk of merging the two for almost 2 years. You can still make reservations through CRO. You just have to ask when calling WDW and they will set the reservation up under CRO terms. CRO has much better terms then WDTC. You pay the balance at check in as compared to WDTC that has to be paid in full weeks before your arrival. You can cancel up to 5 days prior to your trip without penalty through CRO where WDTC has a stiffer penalty. I never book through WDTC and hope they don't merge for many years!

It isn't who you get that answers the phone that matters, it's what you are booking that determines where it gets booked through.

In your situation, the Canadian At Par deal requires a 4 letter code (ZWCF). All four letter codes must be booked through WDTC. You have no choice in that.

The reservation you booked through CRO was either a room only or a code that uses three letters (CUD, et al). Three letter codes can only be booked through CRO.

The only time you have a choice between using WDTC or CRO is if you are booking room only at rack rate. Even then, Disney will do everything it can to try to get it booked through WDTC.

Had the same problem last week, I booked a trip for next Aug, They said they needed $200 up front and balance 45 days out . After that I ask for CRO, said $109 up Front balance upon arrival.. This is very confusing......

I booked a few days ago for WL using 1-407-WDISNEY. I didn't think to ask for a CRO and I had to pay the deposit / tax balance due on check-in and 5 day cancellation. I booked at rack rate for now and am hoping a code comes along for the trip (Oct. 2004)
