Critter Country Closure

I agree it's about the construction but this stinks & it's way too short notice.

How else could they handle a sudden construction issue though? Asking seriously. It would be like a pipe in your house bursting and you getting mad about the short notice that you can't use your water while the plumbers are fixing the pipe.

If it's open on weekends -when they're not working- it's not like a broken pipe. It's scheduled construction. Most places have an estimate on construction. They should have announced it using a wide date, longer than anticipated. Then, if dates change, as they do, it wouldn't be a shock.

Good point.

Construction is happening 7 days a week on this project. They don't take weekends off...

I know I might sounds pathetic, but I love going to hungry bear for funnel cake by the season. This location had some great looking items for fall. SAD!! We will be arriving next Saturday and I had so looked forward to those foodie treats. We also feel like critter country is close to the vibe of the big thunder ranch... And I won't go down my sadness about that being GONE!

This has to be something unexpected related to the construction over there. Could be as simple as needing to cut power or water to that area while they work on new hookups or something. We were literally just there this weekend and nothing seemed amiss so the sudden closures must be due to unforeseen circumstances. I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt on this one. I'm sure they are worried about these closures and how it will affect crowd levels as well. This attitude of "they don't care" is really pretty disrespectful to all the employee to work really hard to keep this park running every day.

I suspect they need to fix up some things in Splash Mountain. And to save money, they close the entire land. They've done it before.

Ohhhh I'm crossing my fingers this may mean Critter Country will be open for our Feb/March next year trip! It was completely closed during our trip in 2015. Coming from Aus I would love to be able to see it :)

New construction has an estimate time for job completion. Depending on the contracts, there are penalties if the job isn't completed during the agreed time frame. Construction is very fluid. Things change constantly on a job site. For example, the hurricane that may hit the east coast can affect the construction with materials needed for the job not being shipped out. Sadly, in our day and age, a hand shake will not do. Every change has to be put in writing and okayed. When one trade is behind, makes an error, etc, it affects all the other trades that follow. I am hoping the construction crew is ahead of schedule and they are doing as much as they can before the rainy season hits.

Well this is just crap. We went to our first DL trip in Feb 2015. It was all closed then, too, for a refurb....along with 1/2 the park. We're going back for our second visit in a couple of weeks. This just sucks. Splash is my favorite at WDW, and I'd like to ride the west coast version. Why would they close it during Halloween season???? Isn't the park pretty crowded then with locals??? Sigh.

I was hoping this as well.

But at the same time I am now even more worried about last minute closures of rides. Especially in the "slow" season.

The fact that it is open the very last day we leave is encouraging. We love pooh and poohs corner which will open at 11 on that Saturday. I'm excited to grab some treats before we head out and go home!

i looked at the DL website and during this weekend coming up (8th&9th) and the 15th, it is still listed critter country as closed???
would they really only close it during the week? seems odd to open on the weekend if it does have to do with construction, would it still not be an active construction zone?

On the website I am seeing it closed the weekend we are there as well (Oct 22 and 23). Where are people seeing it is open on the weekend?

We will be there weekend of October 15 and it's listed as closed. Winnie the Pooh is one of my favorite rides. Most importantly, can I get a Tigger Tail elsewhere?

It's very interesting...If I look at the entertainment schedule it lists it as closed. If I search specifically (i did pooh the ride, and poohs corner) and then go to the weekend dates, it shows up as open from 11-5. i'll put a link, hopefully it will take you to the right place.
