After countless times of calling and going online to make an ADR, cancel an ADR, and change an ADR...I think I am settle on our dining schedule for our trip in August! We are a family of 6- me, my husband, 2 boys (11 and 9 years old) and 2 girls (8 and 3 years old).

Monday, 8/27
Breakfast 8:30 am- Akershus (girls only! Boys eat at ASMovies food court)
Lunch 3:10 pm- Via Napoli
Dinner 9:35 pm- 50's PTC (EMH)

Tuesday, 8/28
Dinner 8:35 pm- Cape May Cafe

Wednesday, 8/29
Breakfast 8:40 am- Crystal Palace

Thursday, 8/30
Lunch 11:20 am- Sci Fi
Dinner 4:50 pm- Hollywood & Vine (F! package)

Friday, 8/31
Dinner 5:15 pm- 'Ohana

Saturday, 9/1
Lunch 2:30 pm- Kona Cafe

Akershus, Via Napoli, Cape May Cafe, 50's PTC (for the rest of the family, I have been once with my 3 year old for the onion rings and PB&J milkshake :cloud9:), and Kona Cafe are places we have never eaten at! The only thing I am really concerned with is our first day, Monday...I'm thinking that it might be an overkill on dining. I really don't want to cancel VN since we have never been, and that is really the only day I can squeeze in 50's PTC without sacrificing other restaurants. I guess I'm really scratching my head at Akershus. I know my girls would love it, but they can meet the princesses elsewhere.

will your kids make it to that 9:30pm ADR on Monday?

and Tuesday a 8:35 PM and a Wednesday 8:40am?
maybe not the boys-- but the girls??

We LOVED the Akerhaus Very nice meal and meeting princesses is aplu

I think day one might be overkill of dining. The times are quite spaced out so I think it's likely that you will be hungry but it will take quite sometime way from the parks, especially the lunch and dinner. Breakfast is usually okay as it's often prior to park opening. Also you know your kids best but will the 3 year old start to feel tired, given the first reservation is at 8.30am and the final reservation isn't until 9.30pm and park time in between. I personally don't like 50s Prime Time but I think I'm in the minority. We weren't that impressed with the food or service.

The great think about a Princess meal is that you can get most of the princesses during a meal. It helps if there are long lines in the parks.

For Thursday, the reservations aren't that far apart for lunch/dinner. For us, that would be too close together for main meals but it's a personal choice.

Other then that, they look good to me! :thumbsup2

Looks good to me! Day One may be kind of packed, but if you have your heart set on visiting VN it could work. My suggestion would be to share a few things (it will save some money too, VN is a little pricey especially for the pasta) that way you won't be too full for walking around the parks or dinner. The personal pizzas are enough for 2 adults to share with a salad and more than enough for your kids if they aren't big eaters.

If that isn't an attractive option to you, my only other suggestion would be to try to switch 50s PT and have a larger late lunch at VN. I like VN much more than 50s PT and in my opinion your 50s PT is fairly late and will not be as enjoyable.

have a great trip :)

See, I don't know...I think Monday will be a long day and they might be too pooped. What I could do is cancel 50's PTC on Monday, and reschedule it for an earlier dinner the following day (we are going to AK on Tuesday and it closes at 6:00 pm, so the rest of our night is free). Then I would cancel Cape May Cafe, and reschedule it for Wednesday night (there is an 8:25 or 35 ADR available). The only problem I have is that is our MK day, so we would be cutting it shorter than planned. Have I confused you yet  LOL! Tuesday dinner/Wednesday breakfast *shouldn't* be an issue with the older kids. My youngest may be knocked out during dinner at Cape May Cafe, but I'm sure she won't have a problem in the morning with the company of Pooh and friends :rotfl: Funny, I am usually the "let's play it by ear, and actually enjoy our vacation" mom...but since this will be our last Disney vacation for a while, I am trying to fit in everything in only 6 days! If only I had a couple of more days

Thank you...I didn't think about the timing between meals on Thursday. I may have to rethink that!

You know, I was worried about the interaction at 50's during EMH...will it be lacking since it's so late? Or will we be too tired to enjoy it LOL! Thank you for your feedback on VN! I was wondering if the personal pizzas were big enough to share...glad to hear that it is.

I've never been during EMH, but I would think that by the time you get there and get seated you'll just want to be fed and leave lol IMO the food is not anything special. I don't know if your children are adventurous eaters but I'm pretty sure it's fish or chicken fingers and mac 'n cheese. It's diner food. If you were going at 7 p.m. when you knew you'd be awake (and the servers would be too :lmao:) I would say give it a shot. But, because there's no way of really knowing, my vote would be to move or skip it.

The only issue I see is the lateness of some of the dinners, given the age of your kids (thinking mostly of the 3yo). My son is 4 and having him eat any later than 6ish is usually not a good idea with him. But that's us, and only you know what your kids can handle or not. I just don't think it's worth sacrificing them being happy during park time for the sake of some late dinners that at best, they'll be too tired to really enjoy and at worst be complete meltdowns.

I wouldn't be inclined to cut your MK day short. Obviously it depends on what you're going to do there but with the kids ages I'm assuming the shows, meeting characters and rides. Along with Wishes, you might not want to leave early for a dinner reservation.

Would it be terrible if you just cancelled 50s PTC? Or maybe you could get a reservation for just a snack sometime during the trip?

I always try and keep our ADRs as close to our normal eating time at home. If you normally eat around 8:00 p.m. then it may be okay. We tend to eat around 6:30 at home, so I try to make our dinner ADRs for that time. My DD9 does best if I can keep us on a schedule like we have at home. Of course that usually means getting up around 6:00 and going to bed around 9:00 even on vacation, but I am okay with that.

We are the same way, especially with meal times. We eat lunch around 12 and dinner around 6 at home, so that's what we try for (give or take 30 min) on vacation. My older two kids can handle some later bedtimes now, and the little one will sleep in the stroller if he's tired, so we can be more flexible with the sleep schedule. But hungry and/or tired kids = meltdowns for us. :scared1:

That's a lot of TS dining in one day and the dinner ADR is really late for most little ones. Also, can your kids make it until 3:00 to eat lunch? Even with a snack, my kids would be grumpy by 3:00 if they hadn't had lunch.

Tuesday, 8/28
Dinner 8:35 pm- Cape May Cafe

Wednesday, 8/29
Breakfast 8:40 am- Crystal Palace

This is one of our favorite breakfasts.

Thursday, 8/30
Lunch 11:20 am- Sci Fi
Dinner 4:50 pm- Hollywood & Vine (F! package)

These 2 seem a little close together. We ate at H & V once and it wasn't very good, but that was a while ago.

Friday, 8/31
Dinner 5:15 pm- 'Ohana

Saturday, 9/1
Lunch 2:30 pm- Kona Cafe

We really like Kona. :thumbsup2

My thoughts in red.

Whatever you end up with for ADR's, I'm sure you'll have a great time! :thumbsup2

we went last sept with a 5 year old.
We toured Animal kingdom all day (unlike our plan that stated we were leave before the parade to make it a restful night.
But then discovered the Conservation station where we spent some considerable time because she was just sooooo about that place (PLUS it was air conditioned so we were sucking that up.

Needless to say she fell asleep on the bus and that was it for her for the night By the time we got back to the PopCentury- got her washed up and in bed and it wasnt even 7:30 and she slept the entire night.

We are going again in Sept but only for one day in Magic Kingdom. I have somewhat of a plan and I know that I need to let stuff go if I find its just not all pixie dust and will have to leave.

Its going to be HOT and its a lot of walking.

On your first day, breakfast is good, but I would make lunch for around 1sh and then dinner around 7. A 3pm lunch and 9:35 dinner is way too late, especially for kids.
