Wonder Feb 21 25
Me, hubby, DD (4), DS (5) This was our first cruise
Prelude:
Flew out of Minneapolis on Saturday, the 20th and arrived in Orlando around 1:00 pm. Were met by Omar from Tiffany. He did a great job getting us out to the Radisson at the Port.
Our room at the Radisson was very nice. They had no non-smoking doubles when I booked, so I ended up booking a non-smoking double suite for $20 more. A big whirlpool tub (that we didnt use) in the bedroom. A very nice shower in the bathroom. Our room was a long way from the lobby, but did overlook the port, so we could see the cruise ships come and go. Of course, when they pulled out, we were taking advantage of their wonderful pool .But before we did that we had lunch in their restaurant. Lunch was serviceable. On Saturday nights, they do an all you can eat buffet where they didnt charge for kids younger than 10 (?). Lots of crab legs were consumed by my children. Breakfast the next morning was also a buffet, not spectacular, but serviceable.
Then we had them call us a cab. And we waited and waited and waited. Cabs are scarce in Port Canaveral on Sundays. A van finally took pity on us and we shared a van with another family (they were cruising Royal Caribbean).
Given the cab situation and being stranded within the Radisson, Im not sure wed be doing that again. Next time we might stay out at the airport and have the towncar take us from there or fly in the morning of. Or Egads! Even rent a car (we hate renting getting lost in not so nice parts of Newark when we went out East for a wedding killed the last embers of wanting to drive in a strange city Id never seen that much razor wire protecting lots full of junk cars). But I expected the port to be farther from the airport than it was the Disney hotels had hit peak season and were expensive (and I didnt want my kids to know they were that close).
