Okay - so I've just discovered this series on Netflix and am starting with season 1 (I'm 14 episodes in).

I need advice - Do you recommend I just work my way through the seasons, or jump in season 10?

Personally I recommend watching all the way through the seasons because there will be episodes you might get you lost otherwise with flashbacks.

I agree. We've also had a lot of characters come and go. I watched all of the first 4 seasons out of order with reruns, which was fine. But after that they start getting into some season-long story arcs, instead of only standalone episodes.

I didn't realize that was the same actor as the one who was Rossi's friend who had died.

I agree. We've also had a lot of characters come and go. I watched all of the first 4 seasons out of order with reruns, which was fine. But after that they start getting into some season-long story arcs, instead of only standalone episodes.

I am about to say something similar. You can skip Seasons 1-3 for now and get back to them later. They are very different in tone & format than the rest of the series.

Season 4, IMO is one of the best seasons, so I think you should start with that. It will get you into the tone of how the rest of the series is, and will more or less introduce you to the majority of the characters who are in Season 10 now.

Season 5 has a season long story arc, The first of the series, so you have to follow more or less in order that season.

Skip Season 6 completely! Any episode with Seaver is not worth seeing, and pretty much ruined the series for me. I skip any of her episodes when a rerun is playing now.

Season 7 is a reboot back to the end of Season 5. CBS realized they really f'ed up with Season 6 and Seaver, so Season 7 was about pretty much erasing Season 6 - which again is why I think you can totally skip it all.

Season 7-10 You should see in order. They have season long story arcs and get more personal about each character as the show has a new show runner (executive producer heading the show.) Also some characters come & go, so you need to watch in order to get who's who and what's going on.

So what do we think of Gary Sinise leading the spin off series?

Surprisingly, I think he will actually be good. He already played a quirky cop/detective on CSI: NY. So, it's not a big stretch for him to be FBI, the way it was for Forrest Whitaker in CM: Suspect Behavior.

If they get a good team for him, ones that really do seem like they are FBI, not like that weird team of "charactery" actors they had for Suspect Behavior, who didn't gel with each other, and none of which were Morgan-like eye candy, the show may succeed.

Agreed I watch a few episodes of the first spinoff on ION and it wasn't great.
