Criminal Minds: DIS Official Thread 2 (Spoilers)

Come to think of it, her survival was more of a surprise than Derek's.

That's because the network fired Paget and we thought we'd never see her again. Shemar left on his own terms.

Sigh. I watched today. Not a terrible episode. Part of me is glad they ended it on such a positive note. But part of me wishes they had done more with it. Ultimately I hate to admit it, but I like when the characters depart in a blaze of shocking details (think George on Grey's Anatomy).

Didn't realize till last night that he was leaving...UGH near the end I googled it and saw that yes he was ending his contract...SAD! first saw him on the Y&TR and he was such a baby back than :) Ohhhh how he has grown :) Im so glad they had him leave on a good note :) not all shot up where it seemed they were heading with it.....look forward to see where they go with the show nad who will come and permanently take his place.

Why couldn't they tell us what Morgan is going to do next? Is he just going to be a stay at home dad?

But part of me wishes they had done more with it.

I think the team will verbally fill us in on details as to how his life is going, next week and from time to time. From the article Tink linked to:

Exec producer, Erica Messer said, "Emily Prentiss resurfaces next week to, in small part, offer her very unique perspective on Derek’s decision." So they will talk about him next week.

So, it's not like they are never going to talk about or refer to him again, like they did with Gideon, for several seasons. :rolleyes1 I think the producers know Morgan's leaving is going to leave a humongous hole in our hearts regarding the show.

Reid said it best, when he said, "I don't know what this room looks like without you."

I don't know what this SHOW will look like without Derek Morgan.

I'm also pretty sure they scheduled her appearance right after Shemar's exit so people who are really upset right now will still want to watch the show next week :p

I'm still kind of amused that they finally just said "screw this" and killed Gideon off-screen :rotfl: Now there won't be any more "why can't we have a Gideon guest appearance?" conversations :p

Ohhhh how he has grown :)

I was also thinking back, last nite, to how much Morgan has grown. When he first started on the show, he was even wearing a suit & tie! :lmao:And he was challenging whether Gideon was stable enough to be back at work. He was so into the job and dating lots of women and not at all ready to settle down.

Out of all the characters, I think we know the most personal stuff about his life, and the writers did an excellent job tying it all together and growing him up. We know WHY he chose creating a stable family for his son. It didn't just come out of the blue, an arbitrary decision to fade out a character's storyline, because the actor or producers wanted him out.

CBS renewed most of their lineup today - CM is one of the only shows missing :worried:

While CSI: Cyber is a classic bubble series, Criminal Minds continues to do solid business for CBS, coming off a high 2.1 Live+same day 18-49 rating for the Wednesday episode featuring the exit of original cast member Shemar Moore and launching a second spinoff series, Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders. But now in its 11th season, it is an expensive show, with the network covering the costs full freight, while the leading studio, ABC Studios, which co-produces the series with CBS TV Studios, is reaping most of the benefits, including sales internationally where Criminal Minds is very strong. It is also conceivable that CBS would wait to see how Beyond Borders does and renew the two shows together.

Everyone keep your fingers crossed!

I just watched the episode last night. Ugh, I cried. I love his character. But I understand that not all actors want to be on a show for 47 seasons straight, so maybe it was just his time to go.

I was nervous they'd have Morgan die, I kind of like the way it ended happily.

Haven't watched it yet but I have been reading online all day about Shemar. What a babe and he will be missed.

I've been surprised for the last few seasons that CM had constantly been renewed. Especially as it's always across American Idol and that wins the ratings time slot when it's on. Then Modern Family keeps winning the Emmys while CM gets nothing.

I think the network execs are waiting to see what the fallout will be now that he's gone. Some fans only tuned in for him. I think Shemar had also been waiting for the show to get canceled. He would have rather that than the show tanking because he made the decision to move on and it cost the other cast members & crew the show. :(

We'll have to see in the next few weeks how the ratings are doing. Along with Beyond Borders.

I saw someone else mention that this might be the year that most of the cast (everyone except MGG) has their contracts up, but that was last year. I assume everyone else besides Shemar signed the usual two year contracts. So MGG would be the only one not signed on for next year, but I don't think he's going anywhere. But if he did decide to leave, I could see them cancelling the show with two original characters leaving at the same time.

NCIS got a two season renewal a couple weeks ago, which kind of surprised me with Tony leaving this season and Ziva already gone. But NCIS seems to get crazy high ratings no matter what. I never really thought CM could survive losing any of the original guys, or Joe. But I think Shemar leaving towards the end of the season makes a difference. With only four episodes left this season, I'm not sure if that's enough for them to cancel the show based on those ratings. Hopefully we'll at least get a "final season" renewal. Even a short season, just to give us a nice ending. They're filming the finale right now, so there's not really time to rewrite it to make it a series finale. When CSI got cancelled last year, they did a TV movie to wrap it up. Hopefully they wouldn't cancel a show this old without giving it some kind of real series finale.

Renewal season is so stressful :p I think this is the only show I'm waiting on now :surfweb:

Prentiss' episode is tonight.

I'm still in mourning over losing Derek.

Only 3 more episodes after tonight. NO episode next week. Only 2 scheduled in April and the Season Finale is on May 4th. That's the earliest one this show has had. This is also the shortest season in 8 seasons. This season only has 22 episodes. The last 8 seasons have 23 - 24 episodes. Season 3 had the least episodes at 20 episodes. Seasons 1 & 2 also had 23 & 24 episodes.

The Team's in NYC trying to catch a serial killer and I don't know about this? :scared:
