"Criminal Minds" Is the Week's #1 Scripted Program in Viewers and Adults 25-54

CBS Has Six of the Top 10 Programs and 11 of the Top 20 in Viewers

CBS had six of the week's top 10 programs, including the top three scripted programs in viewers led by CRIMINAL MINDS and rebroadcasts of NCIS and NCIS: Los Angeles, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for the week ending March 20, week 26 of the 2010-2011 television season.

CBS also had 11 of the week's top 20 shows in viewers. Reruns of NCIS and NCIS: LOS ANGELES delivered more viewers last week than every program on the competition (except two "American Idol" broadcasts and two "Bachelor" broadcasts).

For the week in viewers, CBS was behind FOX (9.37m) and ahead of ABC (6.31m) and NBC (5.43m). Season-to-date, CBS is first in viewers (11.86m), ahead of FOX (9.80m), ABC (8.22m) and NBC (7.39m).

I knew that episode would boost the viewers :thumbsup2

Yep. Now they just have to pay the cast what they are worth. Slap around the producers to stop making stupid changes to something that isn't -- err, wasn't broken, until they made these changes, and keep the writing this good.

I had CM on in the background last nite, and I swear every time I looked up, they had every Prentiss episode on where she played a key part, because she was either the sensitive one, or the female who could get through to the other female. :(

::yes::

I just watched the re-run. There's a preview for next week coming up popcorn::

Seaver looked so much like JJ in that preview that for a second I thought "AJ Cook is on again?!" :sad2:

Thanks, I caught this post just in time. I had the sound muted for commercials & would have missed the preview. :thumbsup2

The team standing there looked really sparse. :(

I know :sad2: Well, it looks like schizophrenia is coming up again next week. I wonder if they'll bring back the storyline with Reid's headaches now that Prentiss's story is over. They mentioned it briefly a couple episodes ago, but not much since that one where he basically went nuts. I'm wondering why they dropped that so fast :confused3 I guess they just had to get that Prentiss storyline out of the way first.

Are you watching SB? I'm having a hard time believing that that girl is 6. She looks a lot older. CM is frequently off with ages  The girl from last season's finale and the first episode of this season(Ellie?) looked a lot older than they said she was too.

Maybe he goes nuts and kills off Seaver? :lmao:

No, Top Chef, is down to the final 2 episodes. The beginning of SB looked like another CM episode where a girl was abducted off the playground. :confused3 The last few weeks, I would attempt to watch SB, it wouldn't hold my attention, then halfway through, I'd be pissed that I was missing Top Chef, and have to wait an extra half hour to see the repeat.

This week, I figure, I'm not even going to pretend to watch SB. If people start posting, "Hey! SB was a really good episode this week.:thumbsup2 " Maybe I'll tune back in and start watching the following week.

Maybe he goes nuts and kills off Seaver? :lmao:

That would be awesome!

I have to admit...last week when Doyle had a sniper ready to shoot Rossi and Seaver I screamed "SHOOT SEAVER!" :rolleyes1

Actually...I'm not gonna lie, this episode is pretty good. It did look like it was gonna just be the child abduction thing, but not even close. They're not using recycled unsubs like they have the past few weeks, which automatically gives them points  Half way through this episode and I haven't tuned out. Besides the pilot, I haven't made it this far into any of the episodes. This one really isn't bad.

On a different note, I'm really curious to see how the team(minus Hotch) is handling Prentiss's "death" next week.

:lmao: We're bad. There's people lurking and reading, probably going, "Leave that poor gal alone." :sad2:

Okay, I'll watch next week.

I just hope it really doesn't feel like there is a big obvious hole in the show. :( I wonder if Strauss shows up?

Oh, and why didn't the casting person hire two extras who looked like Prentiss' mom and Strauss for the funeral last week? They could have been wearing hats & dark sunglasses or something. :confused3

I just got a great idea. Ship Seaver over to SB!

Okay, I'll watch next week.

I remember you mentioning something a few weeks ago about Forest Whitaker over-acting on this show, especially with the whole acting like the unsub thing. He's definitely still doing that. It drives me nuts :headache:

I was wondering the same thing. I assume if Prentiss' mother had been there, she would've been standing around the casket with the team at the end. She didn't come to her daughter's funeral? :confused3 I also thought it was weird that Strauss wasn't there. I wonder if Strauss knows that she's not really dead.

:worship: :worship: :worship: Great idea! :teeth:

Who's idea was it to "kill" off Emily? It looked like it was J.J.'s and Hotch figured it out. But, you had said that Hotch brought in J.J.

So, maybe he had told J.J. to say Emily was dead, no matter what happened, since Doyle was still out there? And he would learn the truth later outside? :scratchin But, he knew she was alive by the way J.J. kept Reid from seeing Emily. :confused3

I think that JJ knew Prentiss was not dead and Hotch figured it out. Prentiss is probably working for the government in another fashion, hence the clip at the end where JJ meets her and gives her three passports and documents.

I could have swore that it was Prentiss in the preview for next week instead of Seaver but then I was half asleep.

I wish, although I'd hate to see MGG off the show. I am just glad that so far, it doesn't look like they are gonna hook Reid and the new girl up.

I will say it! I am actually really enjoying SB. The characters are interesting and I thought the last story was really good. Creepy and sad, but good. I am even enjoying Janeane Garofalo's character the most, and I REALLY REALLY dislike the actress. :)

I love seeing Penelope in both shows, but would also like to see another crossover show with the original.

Okay, that's 2 votes for SB, here so far. Considering how much complaining we've done here of all the changes and possible negative connections to may have to do with CM, it's pretty good that anyone is now coming forward
hiding2_smilie.gif
to speak up positively about SB.

I can't watch it tonight. Tonight is the finale of Top Chef. My new-to-me TV that I got from a neighbor, is missing a plug-in in the back, so I can't watch one show and tape another at the same time. :( I'd be too antsy wondering what's going on on TC  for stay focused on SB.

NEW episode tonight! :woohoo:

We are down to the final 6 episodes of the season. :(

Good news is that Thomas said they are back on the set, filming the last few episodes. I have more fun Twitter pics coming up.

Here is a semi-SPOILER ALERT below
for tonight's episode. Though, we probably all figure this will be how everyone on the team is feeling and handling Prentiss' death.

There are two articles from Entertainment Weekly. Since Thomas Gibson won EW's Most Under-appreciated Entertainer of the Year Award, a few months ago, EW is finally paying more attention to CM.

SEMI-SPOILER ALERT!!!

‘CRIMINAL MINDS’: THOMAS GIBSON ON TEAM ‘REELING’ FROM PRENTISS’S ‘DEATH’

by Sandra Gonzalez

"Holy smokes. What an episode we saw on Wednesday! As many of you commented in Ken Tucker’s review of Paget Brester’s final episode, that’s how you do an exit! But if you’re like me, you’re asking the inevitable question: What the heck is next?

I hopped on the phone with Thomas Gibson (Hotch) to talk about the next new episode, “With Friends Like These,” which airs March 30, and learned about where the team goes from here. “We are all reeling, and yet, there is work to be done, and there’s a case we need to summon all of our professionalism for and dive into,” he tells EW. “We have a community who needs us, and they need us no less in that particular moment in our family’s history, no less than they would in any other moment. I think as the unit chief, [Hotch] is trying to keep everybody focused and keep himself on track as well. It’s something that obviously could be a cause for collapse, but there’s too much at stake to let that happen.”

As chief and backbone of BAU, Gibson says Hotch takes his role even more seriously as the loss of Emily threatens to briefly derail them. “She feels like one of the essential limbs of the team, and now that limb has been cut off and they are missing it and missing her. They very acutely feel the loss,” he explains. “I think, at that point, he doesn’t have internal dialogue about that. I think the internal dialogue needs to take place, and it will take place at an appropriate time and moment, but it should not take away from the time the team is needed and when they need him.”

'There are going to be repercussions emotionally, and it’s not going to be easily digested and moved on from.'"

Thomas Gibson on 'Criminal Minds' negotiations, Paget Brewster's exit, and his plans for hiatus

by Sandra Gonzalez - Mar 30, 2011

f04aa555.jpg

"So two weeks ago, the exit Criminal Minds fans had been dreading finally happened. But though we had anticipated the end of Paget Brewster’s Emily Prentiss, the team at BAU was thrown for a loop and are now faced with the task of dealing with Prentiss’ “death.” (Read Ken Tucker’s take on the episode.) In an interview with EW, first previewed in the Spoiler Room, Thomas Gibson previews what’s next for Hotch and the show.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: It’s been a really difficult season for Hotch. First A.J. Cook’s character left and now Emily. He’s such a determined, focused character. How is all this affecting him?
On the inside, all of these things do affect him. They do get to him, but he is disciplined enough to know that they are, A) private, and B) not to intrude on the job that’s got to be done. He will absolutely not try to sweep them under the rug, but the job needs him and his son needs him. There’s too much to do to — I wouldn’t call it wallowing — but there’s too much to do to really rest or even digest. So I think that it’s just a kind of survival instinct. At this point, [the team] has been through — and he’s been through — a great deal of change over the life of the show. We are down to, I think, four of us who started with the show from the beginning and are still with it. Each year seems to have contained the challenges of transition and no greater transition has been called upon than this year. Like I said, the show without A.J. and without Paget — we’re continuing. The show is continuing just like the team is continuing, but hopefully we’re ready for whatever the next transition is and maybe the next transition is the re-addition of team members. I don’t know.

I think the fans are gonna stick with you regardless.
I hope so. People are really crazy about the show. I hear from people in the airport, as I’m going back and forth home every week. And I hear from people in Texas, where I live, and I was in New York a couple weeks ago and got stopped by two secret service agents in the lobby of my hotel. You know, people are connected to the show. I don’t think there are any wishy-washy fans. I think there are fans who are very connected, and we’re grateful for them, so hopefully they will. We’ve still got stories to tell, and I want us to tell them well. Hopefully people are along for the ride.

Last I heard, you were in talks for next season. Have there been any decisions made?
We’re still in talks.

I know 50,000 Twitters followers who are gonna be very upset if they don’t work this out with you.
Yeah, I know. That’s all I can say. I’m hoping to be on the show. I’m planning on being on the show, but we’re still talking. That’s all I can say at this point. I know I certainly don’t feel like it’s time to turn off the lights or anything like that.

I’m sure San Antonio would love to keep you full time, but as far as fans…
I don’t think my kids would mind. That would be a good thing, but they’ve been very understanding. I’ve tried my very best to keep all the balls in the air and be home. When I’m home, I’ve got the kind of time that other dads who live there full time don’t have. I can go and have lunch with my kids at school and that sort of thing. We’re making it work, [but] they are sacrificing as well and not complaining about it.

Yeah, that’s a good bunch there.
They are a good bunch. Yeah, I think we’ll keep ‘em.

I think the solution here would be to take Criminal Minds to San Antonio for an episode or two.
That would be fine. I think we’ve exhausted all the geographical possibilities in Los Angeles County. It would be great to branch out a little bit. None of us would mind the change of scenery. I mean, we get little changes here, but now we’re starting to see the same places over and over again. I think we’ve all gotten to know more of L.A. County than we ever thought possible.

You have your break coming up soon. Do you have anything in the works?
I’ve got a short film that I’ve been adapting and would like to make. I don’t know that I’m going to have it together enough to start shooting this summer, but I may end up trying to do it in the fall. I am going to get it on track to try to pull it together and maybe get it done this summer. It’s a great little idea. It’s very simple. My ambitions for it are reasonable, and I just want to have the experience of doing it really for myself. And if it turns out well, I might let other people see it. It’s a story that I really love. It’s very unique, it’s very interesting. So hopefully you’ll hear more about that in the not-too-distant future.

What’s the skeleton story of it?
It’s based on a short story, and we’re kind of negotiating the rights. I’m going ahead and adapting it anyway. I don’t wanna kill my only chances by putting it out there, but it’s definitely unique, I can tell you that much. I’ll keep you posted."
