This is my first posting and it is for a serious issue - I'm not sure which board to post to so moderators please move as appropriate....

there is a current internet child pornography case that the Toronto police are looking for help in identifying the location that the abuse occurred. The photos in the links have removed the victim but police are looking for help to identify the location - some of the photos show what appears to be a hotel room that looks very familiar to my family - this appears to be the Port Orleans French Quarter (we were there a few years ago and I know it's been renovated) - these photos were taken about 4 years ago. We've called the police to identify our suspicion of the location but I know folks on these boards have visited WDW many times and may concur that this is the location. Any tips you can give would be appreciated.

Police believe the abuse is ongoing and the victim lives in southern Ontario or Northeastern USA - please take a look at the photos - any help you can give to help locate this child would be appreciated.

Thanks!

We were there in 1999 - the headboard on the bed doesn't look right. It's too "plain". And the spa is outside and does not have a cover.

I sent a message to Crimestoppers...I thought if they had the technology to remove the victim from the pictures, they might have been able to enhance the picture of the inside of the elevator to read the information sheet posted. These usually indicate the address of the premise, if not at least the address of the elevator company.

Hope they find the scumbag...

There's no guarantee that all those pictures were taken in the same place. That bedspread does look like POFQ, and I think that's the fountain. I hope they catch that piece of trash, too.

This topic has always made my stomach turn. I hope and pray to God that they find the person who did that to that young girl.
I am happy that someone was able to identify the location.

From pictures I've seen of the old French Quarters rooms, I think you have it right.

Local news here in Orlando just did a story on this. They enlarged the elevator certificate and found the Reedy Creek logo. Also showed photos of PO. Disney is cooperating with police.

I just watched the news and they said it is in FL in a popular tourist destination, and the rooms have been renovated recently and showed photos of the newly done rooms...I'm almost certain that it is POFQ. How sad. I've been there, and even though horrible things like this can happen anywhere, I don't think I'll stay there again.
Can't wait till the cops get this guy!

We called Crimestoppers back today after we compared our POFQ vacation photos with the website - it certainly looks like a match to us - apparently others have called with similar information. Hopefully this will help identify where this young child is now and help remove her from this situation.

Thanks!

I just called Crimestoppers because my heart sank when I saw the pictures...I knew right off it was the POFQ. I grabbed my scrapbook from 2000 because I had taken pictures of our room and sure enough it was a match. The lady I spoke to thanked me very much for calling but that they had already made a confirmation on the location.

I kind of understand where you're coming from, but the sad thing is that there is probably no hotel in the world where something heinous hasn't happened, and letting this piece of excrement take away your innocent enjoyment of a perfectly fine resort is just letting him get away with another crime.

What we really need is harsher penalties for child abuse and pornography.

Hi I looked at my pics of our honey moon 7 years ago it was the exact bedspread and bed. My DH called and they said they do know it was Port Orleans French Quartar in Disney but are looking for more information.

How sad to take such a wonderful place and do this to a kid. And why did they wait 2 years to put this info on the net. When they could have gotten there answer so much sooner. Like right away. They must have had the technology then to take out the girls picture.
How much torture has this poor child had to endure.
I pray they find her soon and get her the special care and help she will need. :sad2:

What is terribly sad is the response on the Resort board to this story.
  • posters questioning the legitimacy of the story because the Toronto Sun reported on it in their sensational manner -- so the story can't be legit.
  • posters questioning the legitimacy of the story because the Toronto Sun website ends in .com and not .ca -- so it can't be legit.
  • posters questioning whether the pictures were staged.
  • posters questioning whether the background was altered to make it look like Disney.
  • posters questioning whether the Toronto Sun is out to get Disney.
  • posters blaming Disney for a lack of security at POFQ.
Very sad when blind faith to a company (any company -- not just Disney) clouds the perceptions of people when something is known to have happened on the property of that company.
I'm just glad that the sharp eyes of some Internet citizens caught the similarities. At least the police now have a clue.

I was the one who first posted about the story in the Sun. Granted, the Sun is... well... a more liberal paper than the Star or Ottawa Citizen, but I'd hardy call it a tabloid. I too was disappointed in some of the comments (especially the .ca vs .com???). The bottom line for me is that this kind of thing can, and does happen everywhere. It just happened to be a case where the TPS (Toronto Police) had good images of the crime scene and wanted to get the public's help. Where else on Earth is more recognizable than WDW?

Hi RoyalCanadian! Cambridge eh, we just moved to eastern Ontario from Cambridge about four years ago. We were in the Galt section. I miss shopping for meat there, even in the grocery stores.

So many people on the resort board were more concerned about Disney's image than the fact that this happened in a public area: fountain, elevator and arcade. I can't believe the ignorance of some people. The questioning of credibility since it came from a Canadian news source and not an American one is outrageous. The .ca vs. the .com is another example of sheer ignorance. Poor little girl!!! Did anyone stop to think that identifying the hotel may jar someone's memory? Terrible things happen everywhere and we all should be more alert to our surroundings, even if it is Disney.

I couldn't find it on the Resort board. I would have thought people would have been happy that the place was identified. Maybe that will help the little girl. I felt really good that the Dis had played a big part in helping the police.

I think it's pretty amazing that Toronto police came up with this idea in the first place! I'm sorry that it's linked to Disney, but just grateful that they were able to identify the location so quickly!
