Cricut Problem/Question

I spent the last two days fighting with my cricut. After much frustration and stress, I've found out that it will cut only with my deep blade/housing. With the regular blade, even on 6 with a brand new mat and blade, it will only score cardstock that I usually cut on 3 or 4. Anyone had that problem before? Is it my blade housing or is it time to start saving for a new machine? Can you even buy a replacement housing? You would think I would know since I work at M's, but I honestly can't remember.

Any help anyone can offer would be great!

I'm thinking I have seen housing for sale - maybe on the cricut site is where I saw them, and wondered why at the time (then thought someone must be selling the machines without the housing)
