I am looking into Cricut machines. In your opinions, what are good prices for the: 1. Personal Machine 2. The Create and 3. The Expression

What makes the Expression better (what can it do that the other's can't) than the other two? I don't want overkill, but I don't want to wish I had gotten a more "techincal" one.

Are you comfortable with Ebay? Where else are good places to go?

Any other suggestions?

THANKS!

I recently bought the Cricut Personal from Joann's for $99. I thought that was a great deal, and it came with George.

I have bought a few carts off of ebay, with great success. I got some awesome deals, too:

$30 for Mickey and Friends
$26 for My World
$32 for New Arrival
$28 for Paper Dolls

I just bought SCAL, too, so I won't be buying anymore carts for awhile, but I will definitely look to ebay when I do, or when I need more mats/blade replacements.

I went ahead and bought the Expression. I hope I haven't made a mistake. The Joann small ones were sold out and Michael's is far away and Wal-Mart didn't have any. The prices on Ebay at the time were not great for the Create. I got an Expression off of Ebay for about $240. (Is that a bad price?) free shipping. I hope I will like it. It does print both small letters and images and large ones doesn't it?

Now I have to start getting cartridges.

I sell Cricut machines on Ebay - if it came with at least one cart, that is a fair price. It will cut as small as 1/4 inch and as large as 11 1/2 inches with the smaller mat or 23 1/2 inches with the larger mat.

I don't think you will regret getting the Expression. I always felt limited by the smaller machine - but with the Expression it's always felt like "it fits me like a glove". :thumbsup2

You're going to love the expression! I have both but use this one the most. It has a lot more features then the original, the create does have the same features but the size can be limiting.
Your kids will love it too, we use it a lot for science projects, health posters, etc.
I also use mine to decorate the PTO bulletin board.

You will not regret the Expression. I started out with the Original but upgraded to the Expression when I wanted to make larger cuts and layouts. With the expression you can create 12 x 12 overlays that you cannot do with the original. There are also extra creative features. I have not regretting getting the expression at all, I just wish I had started out with it rather than with the original.

Have fun.

Thats so exciting. I got a shipping notice the other day and I can't wait to get it. I hope we both enjoy it :)

I also ordered the Expression off of HSN. I did the 4 payments of $87 and free shipping. Payments are better for me than one large amount. I didn't get the new customer discount though. I have shopped there before. I ordered it today. Can't wait!!!

Good deal at HSN. I had already bought mine, but oh well.

BTW, what is the ink for? I am totally stumped by that one. I have a lot to figure out how to use this.

It took me a while to figure this out too. On the machine (see next post for more info), You can replace the blade with the marker and instead of cutting out the shape it will draw it for you.

you can replace the blade on either machine to use the markers. They draw the same lines the machine would cut, which is nice if you want an outline on your image before you cut it.
There is a slight learning cure though, if you move the blade housing while changing the marker back to the blade, it can shift the cut. I put my marker in "cut" the image, put the blade back in then hit reload page, which brings you back to the starting point. The hit repeat last and it will cut in the right place.

I would test it out with cheap construction paper first.

Oh and everyone who just bought a cricut, go buy baby wipes. We use them to clean out mats off when we are done using them for the day. Just don't rub to hard or the sticky will come off. Let it air dry and then put the protective shield back on the mat. It helps to keep the mat sticky longer.

Thanks for all the info.

Thanks for the baby wipe idea!

I got mine today. I unpacked it to check if everything is there but I am scared to take the bubble wrap off.:rotfl: Maybe I need a drink to get me over the hump and dig in.

That is an excellent deal for all you got, tool and cart wise!

I have the create but got it before any others had come out. I love it but really wish I had the expression
