Cricut inks???

I'm trying to find a way to afford getting the Cricut (actually I want to wait until I can get the expressions) Anyhow, I went looking on QVC but they only have the regular one. But while reading the description of it, I noticed they included some inks? What exactly is this for? I though the Cricut was a die cutting machine. Does it need ink? Am I confused?

With the inks you can draw the image as opposed to cutting it out. Cricut cant emboss, as of yet, so is is their way of making up for that.

I love the markers, it gives cuts definition.
