Cricut help

Funny how things happen. I've discovered a scrapbook shop not far from me which I didn't know about. They offer courses etc and this week they have a cricut session. If you don't have one they will provide one and show you what they can do!!!!! This is ideal for me, I get to try it out before I buy. And looking on their gallery pages they have done various teaching sessions and I saw some Disney stuff too. Will ring them tomorrow and hope they have places left!

Sounds great! Just remember that there is a learning curve with it. When I first got my machine I was so frusterated because I could not get it to do what I wanted. Slowly over time I got used to it and now I could not live without it! Have fun! :goodvibes

So I thought I would share what I made at my Cricut class this morning, granted the lady had writeen all the instructions out very clearly and gave me lots of help. But I have the bug - so here is my butterfly card

Thanks Jennifer....I don't have SCAL....I thought maybe it was on one of the cricut cartridges.

Another idea if you want to learn to use a Cricut or make some cuts while you save up to buy your own, is to go to your local Michaels. Each month, every Michaels has a crop night. Each store has it on a different night so you'll have to check with your store to see when it is. They are usually 6 hours long and it costs $5. The store will have a Cricut out and other tools they have in the classroom (mine has a Cuttlebug, Slice, punches, etc.) and you just bring your own paper and projects to work on and you use whatever tools your store puts out. Anyway, it's a great way to learn to use the Cricut or if you know how to use one and don't have one yet, it's a good way to go ahead and make some cuts. There's an associate who works the crop night and she is there to help you with the equipment or just your scrapping. I work the one at my store and almost everyone who has come to our crop nights hadn't used a Cricut before and I've taught them all. We have a lot of fun at our crop nights.

I would love to go to my local Michaels! However being from the UK we don't have them. I am coming to Flordia in January and have already warned DH that I want to visit some craft stores while I am there. The prices of everything over here is just ridiculous. The cheapest expression I found was £265, and scrapbooking papers are 85p to £1.25. So I'm planning on a little shopping spree and hoping that I can find some good shops and maybe hit lucky with some shopping in the sales!!!!!

besides a locally owned scrapbook store... you're best bets are:
Hobby Lobby
Michael's
and JoAnns

"Archivers" is what i call my "mother ship" of all scrapbooking -- it is a nation wide franchise...(look it up on the web) If you happen upon one while in the states, stop in a look - but don't buy anything there that you can find at the above stores --- Archivers IS more expensive, but there are things there that you won't find anywhere else!!!
