Cricut Expressions 2/Craft Room problem

Hi all,

I am having problems with my Cricut Expressions 2 and/or the Cricut Craft Room software. When I try to cut something, the Craft Room gets stuck on "Checking Mat Status", even though the mat is loaded. I know that my computer can see the Cricut, because it makes a sound when I unplug/plug in the USB connector. When I turned on the Cricut, it showed "Connected" on the screen.

I thought at first that a file was corrupted in the Craft Room, so I deleted and started over. Could it be that the digital font cartridge I am using is corrupted?

I am so frustrated, I am ready to chuck it. I've only had it a year.

it could be the craft room having problems
I have the reg E & avoid going to the craftroom since I have SCAL so I'm no help on what else it could be

I thought I had uninstalled it, so I went back to the Cricut website and reinstalled it. There was evidently an update for Windows 8.1, so I told the program to overwrite the original one. I finally got my title to cut. I haven't tried another one yet.

Mine does it too from time to time.... I just save my item and then close and reopen craftroom... and it works fine... it is frustrating when I'm in the middle of something...
