Cribs at Boardwalk Villas

What are the cribs like at Boardwalk Villas? Is it just pack and plays?

Yes, just pack and plays. That is all I've ever seen in the One Bedroom.

When we were in a one bedroom BWV last December, we requested a crib and they delivered a full size metal crib.

If you request it, they will deliver a full size, off the floor crib. The downside is that it is all steel tube & seems a little like a portable jail cell. That being said, it was better for us than the pack & play because our DD likes being up off the floor... They do have a pack & play in one of the closets, too.

We requested a crib during our stay at BWV back in Sept (sigh, it seems like so long ago)

It had a foam mattress and (as an earlier poster mentioned) looked like a jail cell. But it did the job.

Here's a bizarre question that I've been afraid to post, as I'm sure people will think that I'm a terrible parent.

Let me preface this question by saying: WE DID NOT DO THIS! (Just thought about it as an option).

Has anyone ever created a "bedroom" out of the walk-in closet for their little one?

We considered putting the pack-n-play in there for our DS, so that we could put him to sleep at a decent hour and still have full access to the rest of our room. We decided not to, well, just because of the stigma associated with putting your kid in the closet.

LOL, Mrs. PB! If putting the Pac 'n Play in the Master bedroom closet makes you a bad parent, you have TONS of company. I've read lots of posts that say they do just that - it's certainly large enough and it's also a quiet place for a little one to nap/sleep. I see nothing wrong with it, myself.

Mrs. PB....I've read many accounts of people using the walk-in for just that purpose. You don't have to worry about it. But I wouldn't close the door and put a chair up against the knob!

Some people did get a little testy when we put the Pack n Play out on the balcony though!

There is also a company that will deliver a crib and any other baby supply needs to the resort if the pak and play or the metal crib are not desirable for you. We are using them on our upcoming trip, but otherwise have no experience with them, but have heard great things about them. You can check them out at www.abbf.com

Everytime we've been to WDW as DVC members, we've gotten a crib at BWV. A few pointers:

- Add a crib request to your ressie ASAP.

-- Try to check in as early as possible. Cribs are on a first come, first served basis so the earlier you check in, the better. Having said that, I've never had a problem getting one. We usually end up checking in during the early afternoon.

- Bring your own fitted crib sheet and a blanket. Disney provides a crib sheet, but it is not fitted and becomes a mess quickly if your baby is older than a few months. Plus, I'm a worrywart and I fear that the baby will wrap herself up in the sheet and suffocate during the night. (See? I am a worrywart.)

Thanks for all the help. I am going to call on Monday and request a crib and I'll add to my list Michael's sheet and blanket. I would've probably brought it anyway since he's really attached.

Mr Poohbrain - I don't see anything wrong with it especially cause they are so big and its just so your baby will sleep better.

The metal cribs are the same cribs as what a hospital Peds floor would have. Bring your own fitted crib sheets & blankets and add in the stuffed Disney character toys you will pick up while on vacation and your baby will have a very comfortable place to sleep. Much nicer and roomier then the port-a-crib, and it is at no cost to resort guests. Just call ahead of time and have it noted on your reservation.

Forgot to comment on the use of the MB closet for a child's sleeping quarters. We did not have babies any longer when we bacame DVC members but our DD at age 10 took over the MB closet with her air mattress & sleeping bag and she was in heaven. We find it to be a perfect spot for kids. The space is very large and they love the camping out feel & the feeling of their "own" space.
