crib in room?

We need to request a crib for the room. What are they like. More like a pack n play style or the 1980 death traps that many of us survived?

Pack and play are given. They fit nicely in the alcoves of most of the resort bathrooms if you want to use the curtain or doors as a divider so your baby doesn't see you sleeping and cry for you.

Every hotel I've requested a crib from I get a gross pack n play. I'm pregnant again and on my small list of new items to get for my second is a light weight easy to travel with pack n play. I used it from about a year on and it worked great for my DD plus it takes up so little room that we can even fly with it (but I check her car seat so in the bag that has the car seat her pillow, blankets, and this get stuffed into.)

I once stayed in a hotel that I swear the crib was a 1980 death trap...I didn't sleep well cause it made too much noice and it made me feel uncomfortable. We are driving down which we could bring ours but its more square. We will also have our double stroller which takes up room in the car.

You'll get the same square one down there. We haven't had any issues with the cleanliness of the pack and play itself, but we do bring our own sheets and DW wipes it down pretty thoroughly with sanitary wipes that she brings. But she would do that with any public crib, stroller, seat, shopping cart, etc.

No it's rectangle, sorry. It's pretty much your standard Graco one (I can't remember if it's Graco or not).

At the Deluxes at least (not sure about other categories), real cribs are in somewhat short supply. There have been times we recieved a real crib, there have been times we recieved a pack-n-play. We consider it a bonus when we get the actual crib.

What brand hotel were you staying at? I travel for work so I'm Marriott brand (cheap ones like Fairfield inn etc.) for the drive down and I've never gotten anything other than an old pack n play. But I can imagine if I'd gotten a 1980s death trap style one that I'd be even more suspect of them I imagine at Disney even in the value resorts the cribs are pack n plays if only because they take up less room and they would want to provide something that is still considered safe (consider the pr nightmare if they had an old crib that caused an accident, not worth it for them).

From my experience (3 crib uses in past 4 years) it's a regular pack and play. We have not had has any issues with them and I think the sheets provided are Disney themed. Nothing fancy but nothing concerning. We found nothing different between CBR or AKL pack and plays.

As pp suggests we pack a travel Clorox wipe pack when traveling and wipe down pack and play. Also we wipe remote control, phone, door handles etc. in our room. Also wipe seats and trays on airplane and remove magazines and inserts from seat backs in front of kids. I try not to think of myself as paranoid. But I hear about all of these germy things and when I am spending thousands of dollars for a trip I don't think it's crazy to do all I can to avoid anyone getting pink eye, flu, etc... can't help it all but we try to do what we can.

We've requested cribs during our stays at Pop, CBR and Beach Club and each time got a Graco style pack n play crib.

Ok I gotta ask- what is the 1980s death trap style of crib? Is that the crib where the front of the crib could slide up and down based on the height you wanted? and they were very shakey too? Since I was a kid at this time, I don't remember these. I mean the couldn't have been worse that the window cages from back in the 30's.....well at least I hope.

How is it for a new born? I am looking at that but can't decide if it would actually be useful for a one month old (we have to go to a wedding and then we will be traveling a month later for Thanksgiving so I pretty much need a light weight option that works from birth).

You can also rent a crib. I've got a rental lined up from Kingdom Strollers for our trip next month. My 17 month old is right at the weight limit for a pack n play. He slept ok in it for 2 nights on a short trip out of town last week, but I'm not sure he would be comfortable for a whole week. It probably depends on the kid, but I think mine would do better in an actual crib and I know I'll have one through the rental.

Definitely not worse than the '30s window cages, lol!!! I'm not 100% sure (I was busy surviving said cribs, being born in '80 & all lol) but I think it's the wide spacing between slats that earns them the death trap moniker - some kids have stuck their bodies through then basically hung themselves. The shaky drop-front style was still around when I had my first in 2005...

My DD will not sleep in a PNP, so we rented a crib from Kingdom Strollers in October, and it worked out great. They did supply bedding, but I brought her own crib sheet and blanket to make her feel more at home.
