Has anyone stayed at AKL with a baby in a crib or pack n play before? We are planning our first time staying there with a little one and I am having a hard time picturing where the pack in play will fit. We are in a Pool View room with 2 Q beds.

We have stayed in a mod twice with a little one and we always put the pack in play in the sink area under the closet, close the curtain and the baby has a nice dark place to sleep.

Can anyone tell me where you put the baby in your room? Does the area to the sink/closet have a sliding or closing door? Would a pack n play fit in that area?

If the pack n play will fit in that area but there is no closing door/curtain, I can bring a shower curtain rod and have DH hang in the door way and just bring blackout curtains but I don't know how wide the opening is and can't seem to find measurements.

Thanks for any help/suggestions you have!!

When DD was an infant/toddler I put her pack 'n play in the space between the tv armoire and closet and it fit perfectly. There isn't a door or curtain for the bathroom vanity area but it is separate from the rest of the room (entrance hallway). I'm not sure where you'd put a pack 'n play in there though except for directly in front of the sinks.

I'm having a hard picturing the layout since we are used to a moderate and stayed in a Villa at AKL before and I have looked at lots of pictures online. I am wondering if we aren't better off going back to a Mod where I know she can have her own space to sleep. There is no way she is going to get any sleep at all in the middle of the room with us.

If I am understanding correctly...there is no door or curtain to the bathroom sink area at all? Only the shower/toilet area? Seems odd to me to have no privacy for changing other than the small shower area seeing as all the moderates have at least a curtain.

I have looked at a ton of pictures online...it looks like if you get a room that has an interior connecting doorway I might be able to fit the pack n play in that space. I wonder if that is an option although then you have the noise from the other side but hopefully that won't be an issue. I didn't even think this would be a problem until I started looking at pictures and realized it is not set up like I was expecting it to be.

We've never stayed at AKL, but we've stayed at other deluxe resorts. Really the only one which has any privacy for a baby is the Polynesian- the bathroom is big enough for a pack and play. We've always just put her crib in the room with us- at WL we put her between the beds bc the rooms are tiny. At the Poly, we put her crib closer to the balcony since it's a bigger room- honestly she is so darn tired that she just passes out immediately. We have drinks on the balcony or cuddle up and watch movies on my laptop with earbuds.

Sorry, this may not be helpful.

If the Poly weren't a disaster area right now I wouldn't mind staying there at all. For some reason I just *thought* I knew how the rooms were set up. I guess we can try it and see what happens. I just really don't want us to all be miserable because she is up and down crying all night. She did fine at FQ a couple weeks ago because I would put her white noise machine on the sink and her pack n play was under the closet so when I closed the curtain...she was out. I figured the deluxe rooms would be set up in a way to provide even more privacy, not less so I'm just trying to figure out what to do. She will be 12 months when we go so who knows how different her sleeping pattern will be between now and then too.

I'm a little worried now bc after AKL we head to BCV in a studio for 10 nights. When we stayed at AKL, just past the kitchenette there was the lockoff door and it was a perfect spot for a pack n play if I added a curtain so I was planning on doing that at BCV. Hopefully that will work.

I guess I can just take a long tension/shower curtain rod, blackout curtains and just see what I can manage. Not worth stressing over. I just need to decide if I want to stick with AKL or go back to POFQ for those 4 nights.

Didn't that cut your access to the bathroom off?

You could easily put a spring rod up between the closet and the half wall that separates the bedroom from the sink area. Essentially putting her in the hall. But again, you'd have cut off your access to the bathroom/sink/door out of the room.

We stayed in AKL in April. I put our pack n play in the corner between the table ( which we slid over a bit) and the sliding glass doors out to the balcony. We only stayed one night thought, but it was over in the corner opposite the bathroom and door out so we could go in and out of both without disturbing. If we had wanted we could have accessed the balcony as well.

Thanks for large picture. I think we are going to have to just try it and see what happens. It is only 4 nights. I am going to bring the curtain rod just in case. In a moderate the layout is different so the pack in play is out of the way of the sink and bathroom door and fits perfectly in the closet space (so perfectly you can't slide it into place but have to unfold it in place).

I feel for you. Our daughter would not have slept well in the same room with us at your daughter's age. In fact, we did not travel with her unless we were staying somewhere we could afford a suite. It'll get easier- I promise. We stayed at the Poly with her in May 2013 after her 2nd birthday, and I had all of your concerns. But it was a breeze. She even napped for 2-3 hours everyday. Slept 10 hours minimum at night. Same story when we went in Feb 2014. So, even if this trip is a difficult, it won't always be this hard. She may surprise you.... just wear her out.

Thanks! I was telling DH about my dilemma tonight and he is going to build a portable curtain stand to act as a privacy screen for her. We are driving and he is going to build it out of PVC pipe that can easily be taken apart, wrapped in the blackout curtains and put in a bag. This way I don't have to worry about blocking the door in case of an emergency and can just move the table over some, put her over by the balcony as someone else suggested and put the curtain up so she can't see us. I think as long as we keep the lights down, her noise machine on and the curtain up she will be fine. She is like a jack in the box if there is stuff going on around her. Lay her down...she pops up...lay her down...she pops up. Doesn't want to miss a thing (just like her momma, hehe).

Fingers crossed it works. I may try it in our bedroom and put her in a pack n play in there a few times and see how well it works.

Lol! Sounds like a great plan. What a handy husband! Let us know how it goes!

Our December trip will be the first time we go and put my daughter in a bed- we've always rented a crib. But she's transitioning into a big girl bed right now! So I'm already stressing about how she'll sleep at Disney in a big girl bed for the first time!
