Creepy Old Disney Commercial

Anyone know what the walrus' name is? I do not recall a Disney character that was a walrus. But I'm old, so I can be wrong. ;) Senior moment, ya' know!

It is the walrus from Alice in Wonderland. I don't know that he had a name.

Well, I searched several Alice in wonderland character sights, and apparentley, it had no name, as each site just called it "walrus".........

Okay....semi-creeped and semi-reminiscent. We used to fly Eastern to Florida for our trips. I do remember that commercial (slightly) but I don't remember being so creeped out by it as I do now. Oh Well....thanks for posting it.

If I remember correctly, The Walrus and The Carpenter was a parody poem based on some other poem that played the character of "The Walrus" as a political leaders inability or unwillingness to feel guilt or something like that. He was never actualy a character, but a story within a story told by the Tweedles to Alice. His name is never revealed other than "The Walrus".

Of course that was almost 20 years ago and I can barely remember my phone # nowadays so who knows.

Wandered across this video of an old Walt Disney World commericial, from the early 70's and just creepy enough to scare any kids that might have wanted to go there. Doesn't help that they used the same narrator used in old horror movie trailers like the Amityville Horror. Check it out.

Old Disney Commercial
That commercial explains why most kids are afraid of characters... :earseek:

What year did they cover the teacups?

Technically, not a Disney World commercial, but an Eastern Airlines commercial, just like the one re: the Contemporary is a US Steel commercial. In those days, Disney wasn't such a hardliner about allowing other companies to use their images/characters in commercials.

The US steel clip looks less like an ad and more like the sort of film that might be shown at a shareholder's meeting.

PS: Perhaps the poster who mentioned Eastern's demise meant that their advertising was more off-putting than inviting. Anyone remember the "Wings of Man" campaign? Snore.

Wow - these are incredible. That first one really is disturbing in a very basic way. Advertising history!

It kind of cracks me up at random times through the day that they were singing about how much MORE! there is and they are in what appears to be a barren -post-apocalyptic, empty Magic Kingdom. Also, gotta love the red jacket, white pants look!
