Hi,
We're undecided between YC or OKW-1 BR. It'll be DH, DD-16yo, and DS-5yo, and myself.
Is the daybed at YC comfortable enough to sleep on for 5 or 6 nights?

We are considering bringing an air bed, but I'm wondering about mice and bugs.EEEEW!

Have there been any sightings?

Thanks!

Haven't been there since 3/2001, but I'll say that I've never seen anything in any WDW room we've stayed in that didn't belong there.

We've stayed in several disney resorts over the years and the rooms have always been very clean with no sightings of bugs/mice. I wouldn't worry about that.

I would keep my eye out for the one "BIG" Mouse, not to mention any names, but he wears RED pants....... hee hee... that is the only critter I have ever seen. :earsboy:

That's funny!

Once, at the ASMu I saw a cockroach. We looked for mouse ears, but didn't see any on him.

My 4 yr old dd has slept in an aerobed on the floor our last 2 visits when we stayed at the Dolphin and then at the WL. No problems with bugs. She loves sleeping on it.

We actually run a clothesline from the handle or lock on the slider door to either the amoire door or chair and then throw a sheet over it. And, then put the aerobed up against the wall. It's like a tent and she loves her cozy little tented bed:)!

I've only seen one cockroach at a Disney. He was in the bathroom in our room at AKL. I think he hitchhiked in (maybe on the maid's cart) - which is always possible. I never saw another one.

I wouldn't worry about mice or bugs. You are more likely to run into those at home than at a Disney resort. The slithering things seem to be confined to the great outdoors. I am sure Disney watches that kind of thing. The last situation they want is someone calling with a snake under their bed.

Have a great trip!

I have seen one Palmetto bug at the Magic Kingdom winding its way along the ground amogst all the people sitting waiting for a parade!!!! I assume it was a palmetto Bug because it was bigger than a cockroach. I saw a baby palmetto bug or cockroach being chased and caught by a lizard in the courtyard of the Casitas section at Coronado Springs. Having stayed in WDW on 7 trips I have not seen one bug inside the rooms even in May when there are lots of love bugs around. There was a small and pretty beetle on the table of our patio at the Yacht Club and finally there was an Armadillo right outside our room at the Carribean beach, but I don;t think they come in the rooms! ;)

When my daughter and I stayed at ASmusic 2 years ago we woke up to a roach clinbing up the inside of our door!

And even though I know this is stupid, we were on the 3rd floor and i was more surprised by this then if i would have been on the ground floor. I guess i forgot that those guys do climb fast and can be anywhere :)

When we stayed at CBR in May 1998, we awoke one morning to find a big cockroach on the wall above the sink/vanity area. We were on the top floor. I just hope it wasn't crawling in the bed during the night-I get the heebie jeebies just thinking about it. I have also stayed at BC, Poly, and PO and have never had any other incidents with bugs. It was probably just a fluke, but I never want to have that happen again.

mrsmick, we match! I also have a DD 16 & DS 5; prior to joining DVC, we always stayed at the YC; the daybed worked just fine for DS! At OKW 1 bdrm, you'd have the bdrm for DH & yourself, sleeper sofa in living room & loveseat for DS. While I love the atmosphere at OKW, you can't beat the YC location & both my kids LOVE Stormalong!! We'll be at BCV in 2.5 weeks, and DS can't wait to be back in Stormalong.

We stayed at CBR in 1996 and were on the first floor. When we got back to the hotel from one of the parks I took a shower, and while I was showering I discovered a millipede. I yelled for my husband to come and kill it, but he was busy killing them all over the hotel room. They were everywhere we looked and I am not exagerating! They were even in our shoes! We called the front desk in a panic and they weren't concerned at all. We wanted to leave that hotel and have them put us up in another Disney resort, but they only agreed to give us another room on an upper floor (we did leave the next day and have never returned to CBR since). They only gave us a small discount for our hassle of changing rooms late at night.

I want to thank everyone for their responses, and for the chuckle about the Big Mouse- he's welcome--just not his cousins.....

Ya'll are great ! So far we're leaning towards the Yacht Club. Mostly for that Disney feel. OKW sounds so wonderful for the kitchen, and my fave- the washer and dryer.

Just make sure that you ask for a room w/a day bed on your ressie request & when you call/fax room controller; not every room has one, but they will provide a roll-a-way if necessary. We always booked waterview, but couldn't get it one trip; surprise, when I spoke w/room contoller, we got upgraded to water view, but w/o the day bed. They gave us a roll-a-away, which DS thought was fine.

I have never seen a bug, spider, or mouse in any of the rooms at WDW I have occupied. Lots of mosquitos out on the balcony though - or those little humpy love-bugs.

I will say I'm very happy about this fact because I was recently bitten by a brown recluse spider and I never ever want to see another spider as long as I live. Yuk!

PamNC: Were you okay after the spider bite? Two years ago when we moved here to Mooresville, one of the first things we were warned about was the Brown Recluse and how serious it can be...

Yes, a Brown Recluse spider bite is very serious. I hope you made out ok, PamNC!

YIKKKKKES....I think I'd rather see a creepy-crawly in my room than a washer-dryer!!!!

Ha-ha -- Good point!! :p Now that some wonderful people have posted that the daybed is okay, and that a roll-away is available, I won't worry about my little boy sleeping on the floor, hence, I can now concentrate more on Yacht Club.
