I have a question about the road that goes back to the Creekside Meadow camping area ( I think it's Big Pine Drive). If you continue on that road would it lead to the Wilderness Lodge, or the Exercise Trail that would go back to the Wilderness Lodge? I'm sure we'll have a lot of fun just hiking around FW! Thanks for your help.

Yes, that road does connect to the roadway between Wilderness Lodge and Ft. Wilderness, but there is a gate on it, and it is reserved for Disney buses only. I rode my bike down it once, because I wanted to see where it went, and on the way back I was stopped by security, and told that the road was for buses only (like the sign said). I have to say that I was impressed that they found me on that road. You are allowed to ride your bike on the paved trail that goes from the petting zoo area over to Wilderness Lodge. That is a nice ride, so stay off the road by Creekside Meadow.

Thanks Tri-Circle-D! We're looking forward to checking out FW! Finally, we're under 100 days!

The paved trail is a nice bike ride. We go early in the morning, around 6 usually. A couple of years ago there was a fairly large herd of deer grazing on both sides of the trail at this time. We literally had to pick our way through them to get by.

I actually had a similar experience at around sunrise on the exercise trail about three years ago in September. I was jogging over to the Wilderness Lodge. I had the trail all to myself, and it was as quiet as could be. Hard to believe that I was literally in the middle of the vacation capital of the world. Suddenly, I heard something that was obviously quite large crashing through the brush. A large deer suddenly stepped out onto the trail about 30' in front of me, and stood there staring like, well, a deer in the headlights. After a couple of seconds, she ran back into the woods. It certainly woke me up. I haven't seen a deer along that trail since, but I always look. If you are a jogger, I don't think there is a nicer place to run on the property than this trail. When you get closer to the Lodge, you can cross over to the nature trail, and run along the lake. Beautiful!
