Credits question

This is kinda an odd situation but my mom is coming on the vacation with us except she is not going to be there the first three days but since Disney does not allow the party to split with the same room I have to pay as if she is there on the DxDDP The problem with that is that her credits are going to be lost for those days and with the plan I don't want to lose my money
So here are the two options I want to know about:
1. I use her credits, especially on days when we do Epcot and I want to taste all the world showcase food- at the CS not the TS
2. I ask if they can transfer the credits into snack credits

Are any of these possible???

So she's going to be in your room with you and that's why you have to get the dining plan for her before she's there? It seems like they could split you into two stays, but anyway...

Yes, you could use her credits. Maybe do some 2TS meals. That's probably what I'd do.

If you will have her credits to use for the first 3 days, I would maybe look into downgrading to the regular DDP. You may find the DxDP too much food. I always find the regular DP too much. Her credits on the regular DDP would give you 2 extra TS, CS and Snack credits (if she's only missing 2 nights) or 3 extra of each if she's missing 3 nights.

I was told that the whole party had to be paid for together if we were staying in one room.. maybe i'll look into that more because it is a lot to pay for someone who wont be there
she won't be there because it will be December 23-25 and she wants to spend Christmas with the rest of the family

Your understanding is correct - everyone in the room has to have the same tickets and be on the same dining package. The flip side of that is that you can use the dining credits of anyone in your room, because they're all in one big pool rather than divided by guest.

I'd plan on using those extra credits for room service or signature meals... Room service makes for a nice start to the day but takes 2 credits, and the signature dinners that we've had have all been wonderful.

In this situation I would suggest pricing out the dining plan versus paying out of pocket just to make sure that the dining plan really is the right choice for you. Have you thought about doing this?

I agree with Colleen. This is my understanding as well.

I'm going with the dining plan because I am so terrible with money I want everything taken care of before we get there, and i'm going Deluxe because I like to have an appeteizer with my meal and the mugs too and not having the TS and CS credits because some days I have 3 TS set up on my wanted ADR's-I know it is probably overkill but my plan is to cover as many character meals with my kids as possible with a few adult meals in there too :lmao:

I guess that I will do the room service thing since the day we get there i'm gonna take my boys to T-rex and thats not included on the plan i'm only getting something small so i'll probably be hungry enough for room service :rotfl:

I would seriously reconsider getting the basic since you will have those extra credits...and one night you aren't even eating at a Disney restaurant (T-Rex)...you can just pay for appetizers and the mugs OOP...most character meals are 1 TS point...you could pay for things like the breakfast OOP (and a lot of the character meals are family style or buffet so appetizer would not even come into consideration)

I agree with others about doing room service or doing your ts meals at 2 points before your mom comes if you keep deluxe but it is probably wasting your money this way

I just want to be sure you know you don't have to use exactly 3 TS credit each day; you can build them up and use them once she arrives. I agree you'll still need some signature restaurants, but you can wait and go with her if you want to. You could use all 21 credits in one day if you wanted to. The only deadline is midnight on the day you check out!

Three TS per day will really waste a lot of park time. I like to eat, but sometimes if I have a large breakfast at Disney, I'm not hungry until later in the afternoon or early evening. Disney has some great CS locations with different selections.

Thats the point, I know that my children will ride 1 -3 rides and be ready to sit down somewhere , they do this almost everywhere we go (We went to 6 flags for an hour and a half, the half was spent in Ben n Jerrys eating an ice cream cone) so I want to be able to have a nice 1 hour meal while they're reenergizing their batteries .

You can use her credits. I doubt you will be able to trade them in for more snacks.

mrsannb...I was thinking the same thing about split but then I just thought, in order for them to get dining they have to do park passes again?????

Wow, Disney is not Six Flags. There is much more to do there than rides. You state this is a "trip of a lifetime" and you need to know that Disney World is huge and it's not just about rides. If you're set on the Deluxe Plan, I would do a sit-down breakfast, skip lunch and just grab a snack, and do a 2TS credit dinner. With the regular DP you can still sit down and eat at a counter service restaurant and take a break.

Actually... half of our lunches are quick meals (4 out of 8 days) so i'm not wasting any park time and i'm still not sure about the actual ones I want to do ADR's except for two for sure- so I was wrong in saying that we're gonna have reenergize time in the restaurants since I dont have too much of that planned

i've been to WDW by the way.. granted it was 14 years ago but I was 5 the first time 7 the second and I was a do stuff ,sit down rest, get back up do something type of kid and so are mine.. my youngest is not a sit down and watch a show type of child because he has autism and is sensitive to the sounds of clapping and sudden noises so a lot of those are out and the ones that aren't we'll be in the back just in case (I think Candlelight Processional is a little quieter and he will like the music, Fantasmic is still being decided) same goes for parades it just depends , but he is good in restaurants so with the character meals my oldest gets the fun show type thing and my youngest and I get food and he may even like the characters
and don't take this the wrong way but my question wasn't about which plan to choose just what to do with the extra credits ,now I know that they are pooled not individual, I am not changing my plan I chose it for my own reasoning one being because this vacation I would like to splurge for myself since I have never been on my own vacation before, thank you though
