Leaving this Sunday Jan 1st. Has anyone heard if they are changing the adult vs child credits OR will they still all be lumped on the same card. I know there was a lot of talk of changes to the dining plan in 2006. Any one down in Disney now or just back have any info?

Thanks (working on how to best use my table credits)

December 14-19th the credits were all together, but the cards were labelled with the number of children and the number of adults on the plan. At CS if I ordered four meals I was told one had to be from the children's menu. I was told at the TS that the child would have to order from the children's menu--Cap'n Jacks had a children's appetizer menu, child's menu and children's dessert menu, at 50's child had to order from the children's menu and a child's dessert since there was no children's appetizer she was allowed to order from the adult menu. All others were buffets so it didn't matter. It seemed like they were being diligent to insure that people were not scamming the system by intentionally using children's credits to pay for adult meals.

I had no problems in using all of our credits for adults. Our cards listed 2 adults and 2 children and we often used 3 adult meal credits when my mom dined with us. Not once did a server or cashier question it. We always told them upfront how and who was using the credits and which meals we would pay for out of pocket. We never had a problem.

No. there is no such thing as children's credits. Disney could care less if only the adults in the party use all the TS credits. What they were making sure of was that you didn't have your child use TS credits on adult meals. The plan specifically states that children 9 and under must order from the children's menu, where available. They've had the amount of kids and adults on the KTTW cards since the inception of the dining plan earlier this year.

We were at WDW from Dec. 20-26 with the dining plan. We had no problems sharing meals. Was told at Planet Hollywood that kids only got kids meal and kids sundae, no app. Also at Flame Tree BBQ in AK tried to order 2 rib meals (1 for DH and 1 for 8 year old DS) and 1 turkey sandwich for 9 year old DD and I to split and was told that we could only order 2 adult meals and we would have to order off the kids menu for the 2 kids. That would not have been a problem except the only items on the kids menu were hot dog or chicken wings - neither of which my kids will eat. Other than that the dining plan provides way too much food and is a great value. It is amazing that you can start to dread dessert! :rotfl:

My counter service experience with the dining plan and kids' credits was that if we ordered all at once--4 meals at a time--they made us get two kids meals, because the cards were marked 2 Adults 2 Children. Which caused me to have to "take one for the team" and eat a kids' meal hot dog at Flame Tree Barbecue because my daughter had her 8 year old heart set on ribs (and she won't eat hot dogs or chicken wings, which were the only kid options at Flame Tree).

When we went back to Flame Tree a few days later, we had ordered separately. I ordered my meal and my son's kids meal. My husband decided to see if he could get two "adult" meals. He had no problem. This was the only occasion we attempted to usurp the "children must order kids' meals" rule.

I think it all depends on who the cashier is. At Pecos Bill in MK, I was going to order the kids meal for my ds and the cashier told me that because I had the dp that I should order the adult meal. Our card was marked 2 adult and 1 child. The only time I ever had any cashier tell me that I had to order the kids meal was at the counter service in Japan. If I hadn't been so tired, I would have just ordered 2 adult meals and sent my dh w/ his card to order the third. We ate at flametree and I ordered 3 adult meals, the cashier never said anything. At ts places, I nevered had any trouble using credits for the adult meals and paying for ds oop, even at the buffets.

We had an interesting experience over Thanksgiving... It involves 2 seperate trips to Pecos Bill's.... The first time DH ordered the combo meals and we were told DD could not have dessert... No biggie... It was so much food we shared anyhow.. The second time I ordered the exact same meals and DD was given dessert... I think it just depends on the CM...

We were not trying to use child credits for adult food. I only paid $10.00 for her and felt even that was a value for TS, CS and snack. I am pointing out from my experience that the cashiers at the Studio back lot, Pinocchio's Village Haus, Pecos Bills, American Adventure?, and Cosmic Rays all told me prior to ordering that the child credit must be used for a child's meal. Whether Disney differentiates between the two in their computer system does not matter when the person you are ordering from will not let it go through. So in that respect the credits are not useable for adult dining. As far as paying OP for the child and using her credit to pay for adult food, not what I purchased the plan for. We had more than enough food when using the plan in the spirit for which it was intended.

I'm really looking for input on this topic. I kn ow it cab be a great debate, but I was hoping for more feedback.
Thanks

I understood what you were saying, I was just pointing out it isn't a "child credit".. it is a TS credit. The KTTW cards for your family lets the servers know how many adult and children are in your party. They don't care if you would have paid OOP for your kids and used the TS credits later for the adults. The only reason that info is on the front of the card is to make sure that children on the plan order from the children's menu (where available). It is isn't a credit issue at all. That's all I was trying to say. I apologize for the confusion.

If you check the dining reviews and trip reports of the people just getting back, you will see that there are just pooled TS credits, and they are not broken down between child and adult. As far as 2006 changes, the Disney Dining Brochure doesn't change this at all. No CMs or anyone official has ever hinted that this will change. Of course Disney has the right to change the plan whenever they want, but so far there has been no indication that they are going to get rid of the "pooled" credits and change the system.

The point I was trying to make is that while the credits ARE pooled (i.e., there is no distinction in the Disney computers over how many child credits vs. adult credits you have remaining) it says right on your card how many adults and children are in your party. So if you order four meals and it says 2 adults and 2 children on your card, you will be required to order 2 meals off of the children's menu.

I thought that's what you were asking. What other type of feedback are you looking for, specifically?

I just want to know if it's ok to use child credits for adult meals and pay oop for the kids. I've read mixed reports on other posts.
Thanks for the feedback so far!!!

Just another Internet rumor. There are no child or adult credits. Just credits.

we had 2 rooms and they put me and the 2 little kids on 1 room, and my husband and the 2 big kids on the other. So we had 1 adult, 2 kids on one room, 3 adults on the other. We always just used 1 card for them to take credits on everywhere we went but had issues at Biergarten and at the CS in Mexico where they asked to see both cards. CS would not let me order 3 adult and 2 kids meals without showing both cards.
