Do food outlets take credit cards or do I need cash?

Every restaurant we have eaten at in Disney takes credit cards. I believe most of the food carts/ kiosk also take them although we usually pay cash at those.

Only thing I ever use cash for at Disney is tipping bell services and the Magical Express driver. Credit cards are accepted everywhere.

Yes of course restaurants take credit cards.
Most carts/kiosks to as well.
There are very few places that only accept cash.

Credit Cards accepted all over the world...just remember all the ATMs are Chase...

I will say it is always good to have cash on you though. Systems go down. Always best to be prepared!

2) ANY eatery will accept credit cards.
3) The ONLY caveat is that some do not accept any of the DISCOVER cards.
. . . Discover charges to much for a merchant fee
. . . Amer Express is also expensive to the merchant, but not as bad as DISCOVER

In and around Munich there were a whole lot of places that wouldn't take any American credit cards. That was inconvenient. At the first restaurant I had to run to an ATM a block down the street to get cash to pay, we paid much closer attention to the CC signs at entrances after that!

I’ve never had problems using credit cards or gift cards, but I usually use my magic band.

This is not always the case anymore --if I recall you may own a restaurant--
Amex and Discover both opened its networks to the outside. You can now (sort of) have one vendor number and process all with similar fees and in fact the highest fees are the rewards cards with the V/MC logos. The sort of comes in if your system goes down you will need to use separate merchant numbers and call locations for V/MC, Amex Etc.
However switching to a processor that does this may not be cost effective for a very small business as you will than pay different rates for all cards which should in the end even out to lower rate than just X percent for a particular card.

I have been flirting with the idea of only using my magic band for my trip at times or maybe only carrying a single credit card, just so my pockets can be lighter because my wallet can get hefty.

What would happen if the magic band system was down and/or their credit card system was down in Disney and you were told that after you ate your meal in one of their restaurants? At least for those who are Disney World guests staying on property with a package and all that. Cause you weren't carrying much cash and the only method you could pay was your magic band and credit card and the system was down for both?

Would you end up in the back washing dishes? Would they haul your but off to the slammer? The Evil Queen's dungeon? I am genuinely serious and concerned!

Disney does seem to encourage you that it's ok to just travel with your magic band and leave other forms of payment behind, I would hope they would be understanding if one were to do that and their systems were down. Like, if you just told them you were staying at whatever Disney Resort you were staying at, do you think that would be enough for them to later either charge your Dining Plan Credit later, or if I am paying with my Credit Card, they could jot down all that info and charge it later when their system would be up, no?

Or is off to Rapunzel's tower for me?

That's some serious pixie dust. The only time I've witnessed the situation described, the servers were taking the time to do some kind of hand-written tickets so the meals could be charged back to the guests. It was taking FOREVER, and guests weren't happy. Luckily, I always carry what I consider a "day's worth" of cash at WDW, and I paid in cash and was out of there in a jiffy.
