Does anyone know if you have to pay any fees for using a credit card in Canada. I mean fees from the credit card company to convert your bill from Canadian dollars to US.

They may be our neighbor but to the USA, Canada is a foreign country. Unless your credit card has no foreign transaction fees, you're going to pay a fee.

Cards I have via my credit union are $1 per transaction.

Before my husband went up there for a fishing trip, I researched which of our credit cards did not charge a transaction fee. Discover did not so I told him to use that, but no one in Canada would accept it. Can't win!

I think capital one venture card does not charge any transaction fees and you earn 2pt for every $1 spent.

You most likely will be charged a currency conversion fee for ATM withdrawals.
My family is in pretty remote areas of Canada where very few place take credit cards or debit cards, so I did everything there in cash, hitting the airport in Saskatoon before heading out "to the bush" as my Aunt calls where she lives.

It's good to know discover card is not accepted in many places. I called amex and they said they charge 2.7%. I have a capitol one card no they said no fee i guess I will be using that card. Thanks.

They each vary as everyone is finding out (or already knew). There are so many Amex cards so if you aren't sure, call and ask

My SWA Premier card does not charge a conversion fee.

AmEx isn't nearly as common here and there will be places that don't take it.

Visa and Mastercard are the big ones here.
