hello everyone, just booked chef mickey for may , did the whole credit card guarantee and stuff, i know your card doesn't get charged right away but will it be charged when we check in? I would like to pay cash when we get there for dinner. Thanks for the help. Pixie Dust to you all

The credit card guarantee is just to prevent no-shows. If you do not show up, or cancel within the alloted time, then your card will be charged $10 per person (I believe). It's not there to pay for the meal.

So, I'm confused about the cancelling thing... If I have a reservation guaranteed w/ a credit card at 5pm, if I cancel by 5pm the day before, is that all that's required? 24 hours before the reservation? TIA

Please read the sticky thread on the Reservations board regarding cancellation policies. By current reports it is NOT a 24 hour cancellation. There is a lot of stuff out there that says the Disney website says 24 hours and some phone agents at WDW-DINE are saying 24 hours but the reports coming in from people who tried cancelling is that it is a full calendar day prior to the reservation. If you have a reservation on Monday you must cancel it by close of business Saturday, not on Sunday. As is so often the case with Disney there is a great deal of conflicting information out there but based on what has come in so far you should plan for a full calendar day cancellation and not 24 hours to the minute of the reservation time.

It's also noted that the official announcement from Disney did not say "24 hours." It said "at least one day in advance."

I'll add one thing to Nala's comments that she has seen me post in other threads, but others have not.

Disney is often very skittish to put things in writing. But the more restrictive policy that she describes above is one that they *did* put in writing for me when I asked them a very specific question about clarifying what exactly they meant by "one day in advance". This is what they quoted me, verbatim from the email response I received:

the cancellation does mean a full calendar day in advance; not
counting the day of reservation or the day of cancelation (sic).

If they have quoted a different interpretation *in writing* somewhere, please let us know.
