Creative ways to announce the cruise

What I do is, I tell my kids "Hey we're going on a cruise." Yeah, they seem happy enough with that.

My daughter is getting a postcard everyday from "Mickey and the gang" counting down until we go ;)

We are sailing in January for our FIRST Disney cruise. Right now, I am leaning towards telling my kids at Christmas, with their gifts all being geared towards the cruise, but I haven't decided yet. I do love the idea of just showing up at the port (we are within a 8 hour drive) and just saying "surprise". They recognize the way to Disney World, so it would throw them off a bit to drive to the port. I don't think they would have a clue! But mine are young enough that if I tell them we are leaving in X amount of days, I would still have to hear "is it time yet" a million times!

My husband and I are giving our 2 daughters their cruise for Christmas! We don't leave until January though. We have bought them new luggage and dress up clothes, pirate gear, etc to use on the cruise. It will be a scavenger hunt Christmas morning for them to get their presents and then end with a call from Mickey and Minnie! I am so excited!

I LOVE this! We are slowly picking up things that are all cruise related but I totally need to use your idea of the scavenger hunt and call from Mickey and Minnie! I am sure it is easy, but how are you doing that call?

I think a lot depends on their age. Our son is 5. We booked our cruise back in January and he has no idea...the cruise isn't until March 2016. He wants to go on a Disney cruise (we took him on a carnival cruise last year), but we just tell him Disney is really expensive. I still haven't decided if/when we'll tell him. I love the idea of "we're going with Daddy on a work trip" and then surprising him the morning of the cruise by pulling up to the port. He's watched enough of the Disney Channel to know what the ship looks like! I just know if I tell him prior to the day, he's going to have a million questions Every. Single. Day.

If you go to the section under my cruise activities on the disney cruise website there is a section to push that says character call. You just pick the character, date and time, it is very easy. Hope you have fun telling your kids! Good luck!

We haven't told our kids (DD7, DS9, DS10) and are picking them up from school tomorrow and driving straight to the airport for a flight to MCO, boarding the Fantasy on Saturday. If they haven't guessed it after about 30 minutes in the car, we have a call from Mickey & Minnie scheduled that will be the big reveal. And a call from Goofy 15 minutes after that because, well, why not?! I can't wait to hear their reaction!
